360 or PS3 for GTA V?

THIS IS NOT A DEBATE THREAD. THIS IS PURELY AN ADVICE THREAD

I'm planning on getting a used Xbox 360 or PS3 solely to play GTA V on. I may keep it afterwards but it's highly likely I'll just sell it off once I've had enough of GTA V.

My major concern is buying a poorly-repaired or dying console..

If I bought a "Pre-Owned" 360 / PS3 from that "game" shop, where would I stand if it was dodgy, or had a RROD/YLOD within a couple of month?

Secondly... Which has better graphics (if any) for GTA V ? PS3 or 360 ?

Thirdly (I think I know the answer to this one already), but am I right in thinking I don't need to pay extra/suscription to play GTA V online with the PS3 ?

Game give a 12 month warranty, I think?

No one has noticed any difference visually with either version, so get what you want mate.

You might as well get ps3 as there's no online cost if all your doing is using it solely for this game and nothing else.

It will turn into a debate.

Just buy one of the consoles (brand new). Warranty will cover you.

I had a s/h PS3 from 'Game' & it was fine, then I traded it in for a new 360 which I don't think is as well made but most my friends are on xbox.

I think the PS3 has better hardware but don't know if the new Rage engine will run better on the PS3. I remember Mass Effect 3 ran worse on the PS3 than 360 so maybe check out some reviews soon.

There is a special edition of GTA5 with game extras like more tattoos/guns etc.
I hope there is no necessary DLC for GTA5.

We really don't know yet. All the footage we've seen so far has supposedly come from ps3 and it looks great. The only way to know for sure is to wait until we can actually make the comparison.

Both YLOD and RROD is not common on the modern versions of the consoles, just first gen seems to suffer from them.

Don't the 360 version come on two discs and requiring a hdd for it to play?

I'm not sure if the pay to play online for psn covers both ps3 or ps4. It's still free for ps3 at the moment as I was playing journey online today.

for online costs alone if its just for this single game i would get a PS3, also gives you a bluray player should you require one.

only other factor is if you have a big preferance for controller as most seem to prefer the 360 controller

This was discussed over on GTAF and people said the same for both consoles so I'll only believe it when I see the game running on both myself.

unless you get the 360 cheaper go for the ps3

The 360 original at least is so noisy! and you have to pay for online and they are poor in terms of reliability. the ps3 has a proper cooling setup and has added bluray also amazon are doing gta v and ps3 for £200 if buying new.

This coming from a 360 owner who has had his console repaired 4 times, the last by me.

Any other exclusive games on either console you want to play? Might as well make use of it while you have it. They both have plenty to offer but the PS3 has had far better exclusives of late, though really it depends on what your preferences are or if you're even interested in playing anything else.

As far as GTA5 itself goes though, I doubt you can go wrong with either. PSN is free to use so if you do intend on going online for a bit, that's a bonus.

I saw a bundle on Amazon, PlayStation 3, The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto V. I'd totally get that if I didn't already own a PlayStation 3.

I own both consoles, I'm getting it on both (my brother will play it on xbox) :).

The added bonus of a PlayStation is free online and a blu ray player.

I still have a phat 60GB PS3 from 2007, still runs games but I do get freezes when web browsing, how much better performance are the new slim PS3's?....Do they freeze when using the web browser?

Framerate is the most important thing to me do we know what version has the better framerate as that's the version I will be getting.

People on gtaforums said the PS3 is slightly smoother. This was people who had claimed to have played on both, I tried to ignore the troll posts.

I guess we will find out tomorrow which is best when Digital Foundry compare both games. I only own a ps3 however, so that's where ill be playing it regardless ;)
