*** The Official Sony Xperia i1 'Honami' Thread ***

I'm surprised this isn't getting more attention. High end specs, premium build, a much improved screen and a potentially great camera. That one piece aluminium frame is just drool worthy.

The skin is as light as any and I like that it has onscreen buttons. The only downside are the bezels. I understand that the top bezel is so big because of the bigger camera sensor and the bottom because of symmetry, but the side bezels could do with a bit of trimming.

The skin is so ugly though, it's almost as if Sony hasn't woken up to the fact UI & UX have moved on from the late 90's and early 00's. Let me guess, the i1 UI still has the ugly screwdriver & spanner icon for the settings app?

I remember looking at Timescape on my sisters Arc S a couple of years ago and thinking it was the most ugly skin I've ever laid my eyes upon. The only Android manufacturer outside of the Nexus range that's close to having a uniform user interface is HTC, even TouchWiz is all over the place.

The problem is that out of the top end phones HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S4, ip5, LG G2 etc etc it still has the worst screen and that for me makes it a complete no go.

Yeh, I read that earlier. I've read many articles about the phone today and that was the only site to be so critical of the screen (unlike the original Z - that screen was universally panned). Most sites thought it looked very competitive. It shares the same triluminous display technology as the Z Ultra and many say that's the best screen they've ever laid eyes on. I guess we will have to wait and see.

The skin is a little bland and uninspiring, but I'd rather that than the garish and in your face touchwizz. The main thing is that is light in terms of resources; looks can be fixed somewhat by installing a new launcher.

I've preordered mine with o2 and am getting the lens free as well, and if I don't get on with it I can always grab a Nexus 5 when it launches.

I1 wasn't a rumour, it was just another internal name for the device before it was launched as the Z1.

Sony should be ashamed by having more BEZEL than a Nokia

What is this, 2012?
:p

I received my Z1 today from EE. Not impressed as it was broken, the glass back was badly cracked. Seems very fragile so I'll be swapping it out for a HTC One.
