Baby Crushed to Death at Airport

There are no words for this, really. Except that she should absolutely be prosecuted and i'll not hear the usual "she's suffered enough" nonsense. Utterly horrendous. Can you even imagine it...

Wow what a post. You do know there is a big difference between a premeditated action and a spur of the moment not so good in hindsight decision. If you have this little empathy then really ...

Because it's just one of those things you do without thinking.

While tragic, you wouldn't exactly be thinking of the dangers of your baby being crushed when putting them down for a minute

If you have kids you have the responsibility to protect them. Doing things "without thinking" is simply not an option as a parent.

Whilst I don't feel that a punishment would serve any purpose, it must be made clear that the mother is fully to blame for the death of the child.

The amount of people I've seen sit on the carousel when waiting for their bags to arrive!

They all jump when it starts to move as if it's the last thing they expected to happen

It's not about the mother - it's about teaching the public that when you have children you must look after them at all times and be overcautious. If this sort of recklessness goes unpunished then it will continue to happen. Imagine that this woman is now imprisoned - it will be massive news. People will think twice about dumping their kids on carousels.

Oh please, come on... This is your most ridiculous comment in the thread yet. You think the story alone won't make people think twice about doing this now, even though it will have been done a million+ times before without incident? The purpose of the prison system is to rehabilitate, not purely to punish people.

You're just spouting absolute nonsence. How do you think she's feeling right now? I'm sure you've never gone through life without accidently putting another in danger.

I would put money on a lot of the harsh comments in here coming from people that don't have children.

That doesn't make those comments wrong though.

What she did was wrong, pure and simple. There are always stressful situations in life, and a lot of people, put in exactly the same situation as her, wouldn't have done what she did.

100% agree.

Idiotic comments day it seems.

Obvious statement is obvious.

Surprised she couldn't remove the carrier from the belt before it reached the rollers. Those things don't mover that fast.

This to be honest. Unless she just left it there whilst being distracted and doing something else...

It is a horrible thing to happen but while it might be an accident imo it was her fault and she should be punished.

i guess we would have to see what class she is (i know she is a yank btw).

just like poor Maddie. rich parents == nothing.

at the end of the day being a poor parent killed the child. i know she will have to have that over her head forever

i feel sorry for the dad. i wouldnt want to be with my wife if her stupidity got my son killed.

as a parent you need to have eyes in the back of your head and think about everything you do. she obviously wasnt watching as they move about walking pace so should have had time to grab when it started moving.

Think Twice about putting their kids on baggage carousels ??
You think people do this everyday?
Continue to happen????:confused::confused::confused: What is this the first infant to ever die on an aircraft baggage carousel in 60 years of commercial air travel..? I'm gonna guess its quite rare if not the first.

The Woman is a colossal IDIOT! She caused the death of her own baby. What on earth will putting her inside prison for 10 years for manslaughter do? She has destroyed her self, you don't need to be locked in a cage... Shes not a risk to the public... Is she gonna go round scooping up babies and put them on supermarket checkouts and escalators to try and kill them...

*Didn't mean to pick on you directly yours was just the first in a series of "punish her" posts... Which baffles me some what. *

.

i have to disagree here. its purely about punishment and keeping them off the street, with some rehab as an afterthought. the vast majority of cons will not have seen a single bit of rehab. its certainly not standard practice.

I'm going to have to disagree with your disagreement ;)

The purpose of the prison system is to rehabilitate (along with protecting the public by keeping them off the street).

Whether it actually succeeds in doing so is another matter.:p

Thoughless retort is thoughtless.

You clearly agree, otherwise you would have made a stronger reply.

Well, yes. It was wrong, I'm sure if you could ask her she would agree, and you're right plenty of people wouldn't do it.

Other than stating the obvious I fail to see you're point.
