Baby Crushed to Death at Airport

She should be punished.

If you kill someone on accident that is not acceptable and you would be punished.

Just because it is her baby and she will already feel bad is not a reason not to punish her. she killed someone and should be punished.

I love how people are able to make judgements on a situation whereby we don't even know the true story. If the daily mail article turns out to be true then this is a freak accident and truly horrific. If the first about placing a baby on carousel, well I would have to agree that it is negligent but I still wouldn't know where to stand on prosecuting.

RIP the poor child.

Well daily mail site reports the incident completely different to original article

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...c-accident-conveyor-belt-Spanish-airport.html

I think some people need to get of their high horses in this thread, but as this is OCUK that will never happen will it. oh well

Are we reading the same damn thing??

dropped baby when she climbed on to conveyer belt

She actualy claimed on that thing??? Stupid, Stupid, Stupid cow :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

So she climbed onto the belt to get the pushchair, while holding the baby, and then tripped and dropped him?

Thats not much better than the original story. She shouldn't have climbed onto the belt at all! If she was struggling she should have asked someone to help her, either a helpful member of the public or a member of staff. I know I'd have been fine helping out a struggling woman get her pushchair off the conveyor, rather than seeing her put the child at risk to do it herself.

Hell.. I HAVE helped people out in that situation, more than once. Usually its an elderly person mind you, thats struggling to reach a case or not quite strong enough to heft it off the belt. Always happy to help someone out in that situation. Climbing onto the belt, baby or no baby, is crazy!

Good Christ there are some heartless people on here.

Your own flesh and blood has died to your own negligence, something you will live with forever............and then someone thinks "damn, this definitely calls for a prison sentence...."

But airport staff later said the woman, who was travelling with an older child as well, clambered onto the luggage belt, after the pushchair got stuck in a chute.

As she couldn't reach it, she placed her foot on an 'automatic mechanism' which set the belt in motion.

She sounds unhinged.

It says it was off and not moving, at the end of the day if the carasel was off and wide enough for the baby carrier to be placed safely then I would expect many parents to do this. It is easier lifting something from waist height than the floor when you pick it back up.

What? Really? You'd expect anyone in their right mind to put a BABY on a BAGGAGE CAROUSEL? Wow.

Interesting development in the story that she pushed the button herself that started the belt moving.

I hold my earlier point that she should be tried and locked up to protect others. Mentalist.

Yes and you have accurate context of that information then?

She may have pushed that button, true, but was it intentional?

Also, if such a mechanism is present, how is it so easily accessed to members of the public? Surely that cannot be a safe way for a conveyor to operate? What if a child should happen to press it?

Of course, climbing onto a conveyor would seem a monumentally stupid thing to do, but without accurate context and details I think we should all refrain from judging this woman.

If there is a case to answer, I am sure the Spanish Police will present it to a court.

It's not about the mother - it's about teaching the public that when you have children you must look after them at all times and be overcautious. If this sort of recklessness goes unpunished then it will continue to happen. Imagine that this woman is now imprisoned - it will be massive news. People will think twice about dumping their kids on carousels.

I think the fact a child was killed might make parents think it's not a good idea to place a child on them, not the prison sentence they'll get if the carousel starts moving and their child dies.

Pretty horrific way to go

On the subject of blame
I would say it's the parents fault, you can't blame anyone else,
And also just because she didn't mean to do it is no excuse
Having said that any sentence given by the court will will be insignificant to the blame that parent will put on herself and family strain
She was negligent and unfortunately this time the consequences were dire

Improvements will come after this to the system I'm sure

I think I would want to be in prison after that. I dunno how I'd cope in the normal world and I don't even like kids

Last time I was at Allicante airport, or any airport for that matter, there were signs and warnings everwhere not to sit / stand / play / rest on the coveyors. They also have huge warnings "may activate at any time".

Unfortunately, this accident only has one person to blame.

Get a grip - its was an utterly stupid thing for the woman to have done and it wasn't 'off' it was not moving... its quite clearly something that could start moving at some point.

Stupid American. For the love of god someone sterilize her... she doesn't deserve to have children... what a retard. Poor baby.

Would you leave a baby carrier in the road if the were no cars coming? :P
