At the moment I am downloading Dirt 3 as a friend at work said I should have a look at it.

I have just found this benchmark

Easily, you should be able to knock that off with 2x Titans if you overclock them enough. Codemaster's Ego engine always seems to scale well with two cards from benchmarks I've seen.

Edit: Misread that top score, make it 3x Titans.

Just ran the Titans

I am not sure if the game is capped just above 260fps but I got some strange results. I used the same settings as in the OP for the GPUs.

3930k @5.0

I got the same results near enough if the cards were overclocked or not. I also scored slightly more @1600p than I did @1080p lol.

I think the drivers have evolved a long way since the review in the OP was done.

Tests look like they were done on 12.4 on the amd cards, I dont know how much extra grunt 12.11+ gave 4 cards but you could safely add another 20-30%.

I think the drivers for both teams have come a long way in the time that has passed.

Having said that I would still expect 4 HD 7970s to beat 4 GTX 680s on this.

I don't really like this bench that much as it does not stress the cards enough. Once you hit around 265fps the results become meaningless as it is impossible to compare different setups.

Yep, I didn't mention nvidia as I've little idea on what's improved over the last 18 months

265 fps may be the engine limit?

I do hope bf4 comes with a bench utility this time
