They are a decent team. A lot of people have written us off but our performances so far have been pretty decent. We were never going to beat Chelsea and despite losing to Man C, they were actually relatively unlucky not to at least have scored.

I dont know why he wont play Mata, its truly mind boggling but then Oscar has been pretty immense so its difficult to drop him for Mata. Wouldnt be surprised if Mata leaves in Jan for Spain, cant see Chelsea selling him to another EPL club.

Stats wise from last season, Mata is truly well ahead of Oscar. Surely Jose can fit the both of them in the team??.

Frustrating match to watch from a LFC fan point of view. Sakho probably should have started in the middle ahead of Agger, but when Enrique came on, all he did was give the ball away.

Alberto looked good when he came on, some nice touches, shame the players around him elected not to run today.

A bad result, and a performance to match, but we still could've came away with a point - if only the ref had a clue and Sterling had a better first touch :D

We were never going to go the season undefeated, good to get it out of the way, as the team looked petrified of losing today, and that is what went against us in the end.

Southampton didn't even play that well, we just had nothing through the centre to stop their runners and decided to change the entire defence rather than address the real problem, Lucas and Gerrard.

How we can go from playing fast fluid football at the end of last season to looking such a mess this season is beyond me :(

Deserved win for Southampton, could've score 4 or 5 and rarely looked in trouble at the back.

Last season, from January I would have had us down as a counter attacking team, hitting the oppo on the counter with pace and power, he seems to have gone back to his Swansea roots again and is trying to play a passing game ala start of last season. We can't play that. Gerrard for all his many many positives isn't Alonso, nor does he have the stamina to run for 90 minutes, imo he is the weak link in the team. He was appalling today, far and away our weakest player.
