I can pick up a years sub for £69.99. (don't want the xbox sub deal).

I have Windows 7 64bit.
I know it sounds obvious but should i download the 32bit or 64bit copy?

heard a few rumours 64bit was troublesome.
scaremongering or true?

incidentally does anyone have office 365?
I'm only getting it to update my package skills as i recently got
my ECDL extra pass (looking for office work) but that was with office 2003-2007.

64-bit only offers any advantage when manipulating large Excel spreadsheets (thousands of rows of data) or complex Access databases. For 95% the 64-bit offers zero advantage.

Also, if you use plugins for any of the office programs the 32-bit version is compatible with all, which certainly isn't the case for the 64-bit version. Microsoft themselves even advised people continued to use the 32-bit version of Office 2010 (and the same will apply to 2013) for this very reason.
