Is there a Land Rover/4x4/Offroaders thread?

The family collection

I forgot to mention that my very first car was a 1975 SWB S3 Safari. Had a meaty set of tyres but was otherwise standard and that used to get used for a bit of green laning back in the day. Ended up selling to my brother, who later sold it to my dad before it eventually left the family.

Loved that car, and a great investment too!

I do like the look of a kitted out Disco 2, they suit it well, they're a good improvement on the D1 too.

I'm considering a L322 in the next year or so to replace the Disco 1, but not yet :)

In which case you get extra props for taking it out onto the rough stuff!

When I was down in North Devon a few weeks back, I took it up a pretty steep "Unsuitable for vehicles" track. Got some decent wheel articulation going on.
I was most impressed with my 2mpg average when I got to the top.

Haha, damn that's thirsty!! :D

I hope we get some good snow this year!

Best thing about off roading, there's a reason to look forward to winter :D

I own what is probably the ugliest 4x4 likely to make an appearance in this thread :D :-

Underneath the Pug badges its a Mitsubishi Outlander. Don't dismiss it too quickly as just another family SUV. These things are surprisingly capable off road. ;)

I don't actually think it's that ugly tbh. I certainly didn't know they were outlanders underneath, that adds some credibility for sure! The trouble is, I would imagine 99% are shed with low profile road tyres like that one, which is likely to leave you floundering on wet grass.

They are fairly 'Marmite' as far as looks go. I love the appearance of it myself but your mileage may vary. The 19" alloys with 235/45 Bridgestone Duelers are hopeless in the snow/mud. I've got a spare set of 16"'ers shod with Grabbers in case the weather makes a turn for the worst in the coming months. ;)

Ahhh, best of both worlds, nicely done.

I think it's better looking than most of it's competitors tbh. Even Audi can't make the Q7 look good :p

I'm in the middle of restoring a 1986 Defender 90, going for full off road spec, Just the lack of money at the moment is holding me back.

Ooh that needs a project thread! any pics of progress so far??

Full body or trayback?

ooh this post is going to be seriously pic heavy :D

Shall have to go and dig out a few old hard drives though :D

Right, let me see.

My favourite..
and Orch you should recognise it from D2Boys ;)

Didn't hang about either with a 3ltr V6 in it (and that was tuned) :D

Then we went V8, the old Series1 in bits the background :D

That got suitably abused in Wales too

Had this old turd of a V8 Auto for a while but didn't do much with it and scrapped it in the end due to overwhelming metal worm!

Got into sports cars for a number of years during and after that so took a break from it until last year when I bought the Disco.

Have been pretty much taking it everywhere "with cation" at the moment as she's still on All terrains.

However it is currently looking rather stupid "jacked up" as I've fitted a lift kit to it but haven't purchased the tyres I want so she's all up in the clouds on pram wheels. :D

This seems like a good place to post this:

I've got an RR Sport which I once took across a muddy field ;)

I'd actually quite like to get into it but local information about routes seems hard to come by

It's all over facebook, I really can't see why it's so surprising when the Dodge RAM is bloody two wheel drive, it was never going to win with no weight over the rear end

Well well well, didn't expect to find another D2BC member on here!!

Is your username fuzz on there? I recognise your pics but not the name, but then I'm useless with names anyway :D

LOVE that V8!! I've never really lusted after a series before but wow! Those wheels are awesome! what are they? Are they 15s? They look bigger!

We are talking back in 1994 mind! but I think they were 16's with the de-rigeur Mud Pluggas on. Forgotten.

Yup same name, not been on D2 much since they changed servers. As it went **** shaped.
