Need a bit of advice, I live in a area that is residential parking only. I have been given 4 tickets in the space of two weeks since been at this address. Now its a very quite street with no issues with parking. Its a residents only as there is a large factory close where workers parked outside peoples homes. Now thistles factory has not been doing well for a few years, they had hundreds of workers now I believe they have about 10! My street is around 15 houses long and the 4 neighbours either side dont have a car, so parking is never an issue any more according to neighbours.

Its quite a deprived area and the only parking available is around a 5 minute walk. I have a 13 plate focus and its like a ferrari around here which I'm been very serious, I have seen cars with broken windows and as you can imagine there is no way I am willing to park my car out of sight. You may say move or why did you move there, cant answer that one sorry.

I have requested permits 3 times now and each time they come back sorry you have not provided enough identification. The first time was because they wanted monies which was for a replacement, well I've never been issued with one so why do I need to give you £30 the second is because I did not provide a council tax bill with my name on, I sent 4 bills and a wage. The 3rd was last week with all the correct documents. I have heard nothing back yet so its probably lost!!

I don't know what to do. I have appealed the tickets but its a lot of money and its getting me stressed and down. I don't want to park my car with the fear of it been broken into while I'm asleep nor I don't want the sight of waking upto a ticket on my day off. Wouldn't it void my insurance too not been kept where its meant to? What would you guys do?

Really sorry for the long post and hope it makes sense!! :)

Not much you can do to be honest. Is there not somewhere a bit... "safer" you could park your car within walking distance in the meantime until you get your permit?

You can only park there with a permit, you don't have one - so stop parking there. I doubt you'll get anywhere appealing them.

Looks like ill start having to park my car out of sight. Bit of a farce really nobody has common sense and the council don't give a toss. They are a bunch of jokers. Yeah its residential parking only and you need a permit but I live here, why should I have park my car where more than likely it will be broken into because the local council are incompetent at providing a permit.

I have appealed the 4 tickets but I doubt I will get them quashed. Quite a lot of money too as they have gon3 past the 14 days due to emails back and forth to sort the issue out. In hindsight I should have just paid the money for a replacement the first time, just was on principle as I never had one in the first place.

I think your appeal may stand up providing you have documentational (is that a word << lol) evidence to backup your story.
And as for it going past the 14 days, they normally freeze the 14 days whilst you are in correspondence with them. :)

Well its people above saying you shouldn't park here because I don't have a permit, but believe me would you want to park your car 5 mins away that you cant see? Its no supercar but its quite an expensive car, and the fact the insurance stipulates its kept at my home address when not in use, surely this would void any claim if something happened?

I live here and parking on my street isn't an issue, if the local council had common sense I would have had a permit, I have sent 3 applications off, its a total farce. I have moved in with my GF I am on the tenancy agreement bills and wage slips have been sent as well as insurance certs showing I live here!! Still they want more proof, its a joke of a system and parking enforcement are only there to ticket you they are very unhelpful and very incompetent.

Yup, that's councils for you. You need anything from them and it takes months to sort it out, but be 50p behind on your council tax for a week and you'll get letters threatening to take you to court!

hope you sent all the postal stuff recorded so you can use in your defense against paying the fines as you are a resident and have made several attempts to get a permit... not your fault they are rubbish at their end! I know you said it's through the post only but I would probably still try and go down to see someone about it and rattle some cages :p "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! WHY HAVEN'T I GOT A PERMIT YET?!"
