Games with great intros/opening scenes

Some great ones already in the thread, but one of the first things that popped into my mind:

GTA2 - Respect, is everything.


Edit: from reading the youtube comments, apparently the main actor is Jack Branning from Eastenders! lol

Can't believe no-one has mentioned Blizzard's efforts. There have been many (Diablo anyone?), but I have much love for the WoW stuff. The vanilla intro was properly awesome

Quake 2 was also AMAZING. I watched it over and over again. That year I got my first 3Dfx card too. The difference was that the HL sequence was in the game engine and you just walked straight of the tram into Barney. Immense....

I also seem to remember Flashback being incredible at the time - especially for what an Amiga/Megadrive could do. Most games didn't really have an intro back then.

I quite liked the Mass Effect 2 opening. I won't post a video as it contains spoilers to the story if you've not played any of series. Was very impressive though.

Also the original Half Life was awesome. Just amazing. Yep that's my favorite of all time. If I could go back 15 years and experience that for the first time I'd be very happy. Half Life 2 would have been just as great, if the train hard started in the city area, giving you a glimpse of the surroundings.

Prey and Bioshock are great openers. Looking forward to seeing (and playing) the Last of Us. I'll add this as I've always quite liked it.

 
In terms of FMV intros/Videos then the following 2


Loved the warhammer online intro...such a shame the game didn't live up to its hype.


Battlefield 2! Loved this intro from the moment I booted up the game.

In terms of opening game level sequences:

-Bioshock as mentioned

- God of war 3 fighting on the back of a Titan (moving level) climbing mount olympus and then culminating with a fight against poseidon...Epic!


- Uncharted 2

Mercenary (C64) at the time it massively set the scene:

Shadow of the Beast - nothing ever came close to this type of music on the Amiga

Until Shadow of the Beast 2 arrived!
