Bioshock 3 - Infinite

It still surprises me how dissapointed some people have been with this game... I agree it's not quite as good as the first one, but I think if you don't spend the whole experience expecting it to be then it's still a pretty solid game for the most part...

If it was just called "Booker De Witts Stratospheric Adventure!" (or more likely some pretentious name picked from the cliche hat - "Cumulus") totally not related to Bioshock, would you consider it an okay game? I've certainly played much worse than this

Brilliant game but it's not for everyone. Besides I've never played (or even read about) any game that somebody didn't like.

Even the first few minutes of the two opening scenes blew me away, I spent a good while wandering around the opening part of Columbus, just admiring the sights and sounds, it was dripping with quality. Of course many people will have sprinted through them looking for something to shoot at. There's so much more to the game than that.

The beach scene apparently took ages to make - watch the developer's commentary on it, they said something like it makes them cry to know some players will just sprint past it to the next thing you can shoot.

Absolutely agree with the above, I think games like this deserve to be slowly explored and really take in the world and all the details etc... And frankly if you do ignore all of that then it's true that as a straight up shooter it's not the strongest example

For me it goes 1 > 3 > Steaming piles of pig anus > 2.

2 Offered nothing new to the series beyond the ability to dual wield, a parade of terrible characters and a shockingly dumb plot.

Personally I found the world was not very impressive. I have explored lots as that is what I tend to enjoy most In a game but it is still very on rails.
I know it is meant to have a cartoon feel to it but I found the world and the people in it (who only seem to be three or four people cloned) very unrealistic And not particularly good quality .
I do like the lush colours of the game but the reason I prefer the original two is the horror aspect which is very absent from this game.
I was a little disturbed to enter this beautiful world of clones only to start shooting them. Felt a bit like a massacre.

Also there's more to horror than a dark themed environment... To me Columbia still had a pretty disconcerting feeling to it, very similar to how I expect Rapture would feel in a Bioshock game set before everything went wrong - the false pretense of a "perfect society" but with some pretty sinister things going on behind the scenes...

Rapture was one of the best game settings ever IMO. It felt very eerie and claustrophobic at times. I definitely agree with playing the first game before Infinite, because the nods to the first game really made me grin. :)

If you don't take time to explore Columbia, you're wasting your time IMO. I enjoyed taking my time soaking in all the little details and the atmosphere.

I keep meaning to give this another go. Sadly I got bored after the first session, and moved on to something else.

The only Ken Levine game that has gripped me from start to finish is SS2. The rest have been pale imitations, in my mind.

Bioshock 3 is basically very silly, a floating city in the air is just plain Dumb.
and the story is a long drawn out complicated mess, it's not even a good shooter !

*pats Mal on the head*

Let the grown ups enjoy these higher quality offerings, you just busy yourself with run 'n gun shooters and finger paints. :)

This is a bit of a strange thing to say ... of all the content in the game surely the floating city is one of the least non-sensical things, it's like saying:

"The Wizard of Oz? Totally stupid, nobody makes their roads out of yellow bricks" :p

it's deffo not high quality ...because Dishonored is high quality..

Bioshock is just stupid all the way through and i'm not saying that to be a Troll..... it's a p*** poor game compared to Dishonored

finally, it also suffers from Vertico/ Motion Sickness, all in all a huge dissapointment

My god, is Mal still beating his drum and refusing to understand that opinions are subjective?

Or rather just that no one cares about his.

Yeah, come on lets have more games based on the dull real world. I hate it when people use their imaginations to come up with an amazing fantasy world....

*sigh*

i'm actually surprised that this thread is still active, because you guys must be pretty desperate to be still playing this pile of junk .... you'd be better off playing Borderlands 2.

Christ, how many times have you mentioned Borderlands 2 in this thread. Go find a borderlands 2 thread.

Not being a troll my hairy ass.

haven't bought this yet i bought the 1st game but it got too complicated too many options to increase this and that weapon too many power ups was the same with deep space series as well.

I come from 100s of house of MOH:AA where the weapons didn't require power ups. I realise that this is what people want now but I can't really be bothered trying to figure out best combos e.g. you have to use A with X monster and B with Y monster etc. Am I alone with this POV do any others not really bother with the power ups and just play the game with basic weapons.

Bioshock was artistically a great game and didn't really need the powerups.
