Which was the last game that you regret buying?
Which was the last game you were suprised/content with?
Are you excited about pc gaming? or do you long for years gone by when games were games and patchs were optional rather than a huge ass patch more often than not being in the hundreds of megabytes

For me it would be sleeping dogs which I thought was somewhat of a sleeper hit and I remember it being £25 on release.

My last regret would be simcity for obvious reasons (tempted to put ffxi here but at least I got my £20 quids worth out of it)

Pre ordering Rome Total War II.

It wasn't anywhere near finished upon release.

I expect nowhere near ready for release will be most peoples regretful purchases tbh as so many games appear rushed out rather than being plain rubbish.
If people want they can list more than one game for each question but I'm more interested in seeing peoples most recent regret/satisfied purchases.
your most recent regret could have been years ago obviously but I expect most peoples will be fairly recent games seeing as the state of most games in the last few years especially the big budget triple AAA ones that were a flop

A rare and interesting thread from arknor.

Last two games purchased have been; Total War: Rome II & Grand Theft Auto V.

Grand Theft Auto surpassed even my very high expectations and I think it's one of the best games I've ever played.

Rome was a mess, I wish I hadn't spent £40 on it.

It's not often I start a thread! so it's always rare :p

also GTA:V is not out on the pc yet so could you please insert a pc title here ;)

I guess the most recent regret is going to get repetitive but last satisfied purchase may vary wildly unless everyone lists GTAV which I doubt anyone will be disappointed with but it's not a pc game yet and would make for a very boring thread

The last game that I genuinely regret buying is Thomas was alone. While it has truly fantastic storytelling I find the gameplay to be unbelievably dull. I've been through the first four or five chapters and the 'puzzles' aren't hard enough to make me have to think about them, and they aren't fun to try and speedrun through them either. This means that I only play a few levels at a time before shutting down again and getting bored, which really breaks up what should be a wonderful storyline and makes it hard to follow

For the best recent purchase I cant decide between Faster Than Light and Kerbal Space Program. They are both truly fantastic games that I would recommend to anyone. The only reason i've stopped playing FTL is because I've played it to death.

No!

Thomas was alone is beautiful, it achieves so much with so little...it conjures up a delightful gameplay experience using the very simplest of ingredients. To call it dissapointing is a travesty...

I agree TWA is an amazing game if you've got time spare or the internets down it's so relaxing.

However I was gifted FTL from someone on these forums and whilst I haven't had much time to play it recently from what I have played, it's a fantastic game.

Sorry, but that was my opinion, I didn't like the gameplay. I'm sure some people will like the gameplay but it just didn't interest me, which made it all the more disappointing because the storytelling was lovely.

Its not a major disappointment, but it was the game I put here simply because I have only been disappointed by one other game recently, but that was only because I was so utterly terrible at it that it became unenjoyable, so it didn't really deserve a mention for that.

Biggest regret: Total War Rome 2. Not even for it's unfinished state, more the fact the AI is shocking and the battle flags are for kiddies.

Most satisfied: GTA V, cost me £200 and a few hours having to adjust to a 30fps, heavily aliased game. Well worth it though.

Last enjoyed/ good buy? Dishonoured

Most regretted? Bioshock infinite, and Arma 3 right now...

Snap!

Recent Best: Dishonored
Recent Worst: ARMA III

Although, I never bought Dishonored cos it makes me use Steam, and Steam locks me out my games whenever I go offshore which is unfknacceptable.

I would love to declare this on Steam's own forums but I am banned (for declaring something similar). I did however buy ARMA III which is also on Steam, difference here is that I will only play that on my desktop with constant internet connection anyways. Unfortunately ARMA III is a complete train wreck as things stand.

Recent best: Outlast

Loved it, reminded me a lot on Condemned which I also loved plus it looks fantastic for an Unreal engine game.

Recent worst: Far Cry 2

Loved the original and this looked amazing at the time. Bought it and forced myself to play and finish it, felt like I had been abused by the end due to the horrible experience.

lol yeah...that game sucked! (another dog that got rave reviews at the time)

But why force yourself to finish something that is boring you to death?

I preordered Aliens Colonial Marines on friends recommendations for £40. Was not amused when I played it. Thats my worst experience.

I havent wasted any money on games since. The last game I bought and was pleasantly surprised - Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken :)

Recent best: tomb raider great gameplay, loved the free roaming, completely didn't expect the game to be like it was and very much enjoyed it.

Recent worst: brutal legendjust plain boring can't wait to finish the game and it be over (driving is awful and just feels unsatisfying in general) saying that the witcher would share this mantle got so bored with that just felt soooo long and tedious got truly fed up of that game by the end.
