last regret/satisfied game purchases

Worst 'recent' - Diablo 3. £45 for not very much, in my opinion. It's the only PC game I've purchased in many years that I resent the money blown on it. And I bought SimCity 5! ;)

Best Recent - Skyrim. I've never had a lot of time for the Elder Scrolls series and brief goes at Morrowwind and Oblivion just had me uninstalling very quickly afterwards. I then saw a youtube play through of Skyrim (by Sips) and gave it a shot. Once I got in to the whole modding scene that was it. Epic stuff. :D

As for Rome 2: Total War... anyone who preordered only have themselves to blame. They were warned.

RT2. Massive, huge disappointment. Hardly played it, its not the game that was shown on the alpha demos and videos. At all!!

Best Recent is probably Sleeping Dogs. I picked it up in Steam sale and loved it, great open world environment although not without is flaws.

Honourable mention goes to Kerbal Space Program, the game has bags of potential but need quite a lot of stuff adding to it still to make it a great game.

Recent regret was Chivalry. I bought it after being told how excellent it was my one of my mates, found it to be a buggy and annoying mess.

The best?

For me the most recent would be Kerbal Space Program, one of the most enjoyable games I've seen for a long time. Nice to see a developer working on gameplay first, and not fancy graphics and cinematic effects.

The worst/most disappointing?

That's rather easy, ArmA III. I've bought every ArmA game each time hoping it'll be a repeat of Operation Flashpoint, which is one of my favourite games of all time, and each time I end up with a game that has no "game".

Yeah it's a great sandbox and there are some great user made missions, but unless you want to get heavily involved with an MP community, it's just not really there. I want an enjoyable and engaging, well made, campaign or series of campaigns just like in OFP. But BIS seem totally unable to deliver that. This time around they didn't even bother to have a campaign for release, yeah I know they say it'll be a free DLC in the near future, but unless it is as enjoyable as the OFP campaigns were, BIS will become one of many developers I do not waste money on again.

The worst: Probably that humble bundle with Saints Row in it, I just cant get into those oldish simplistic console centric game pad demanding low res games.

The best: My second wind with Skyrim. Since I got the DLC in the previous steam sale I decided to play through the game and all the new content, which I enjoyed very much.

Company of Heroes 2, it's worth a purchase but not at £40, the only reason I pre ordered it was because CoH1 was such fun. Multiplayer has networking issues, 1 out of 2 games someone drops or gets kicked even though they aren't lagging. No lobby to meet people only auto match or invite friends off your Steam friends list. Relic played on the success of CoH1 and got as much money from people as possible.

Where was the warning? videos looked great and reviews were glowing.

Not to mention, Shogun 2 and Fall of the Samurai were absolutely great.

For me, Total War: Rome II must have been the biggest disappointment of the past decade. But I still enjoy it a lot and it's the only PC game I've been playing lately.

ARMA III has to be the worst game I pre-ordered so far. It hasn't changed much, if at all, since Alpha and I really just don't feel like playing it. £20 wasted.

Best for me has been Football Manager 2013. Absorbing and brilliant for the most part. Have sunk many many hours into the game, and I'm not even a football fan. It's just very well done.

Worst. I haven't got one at the moment. The last game I bought was Football Manager 2013. I'd like to say Rome Total War 2 after all the hype. I knew it wouldn't live up to expectations. So glad I didn't buy it to beta test! Will pick it up at some point no doubt when some mods have appeared.

Worst : Stronghold 3

Best : Chivalry Medieval Warfare

I've played worse games than stronghold 3 but I chose it because I was actually looking forward to it being released and checking out pre release information and videos and getting hyped up about it.

Chivalry is one of my favourite games as a fan of historical fiction it appeals to me very much.

Which was the last game that you regret buying? So far prison architect, but that's not becuase the game is bad! It's just currently unplayable bug wise but that will obviously change in the future. Just wish i'd waited longer to buy it really.

Which was the last game you were suprised/content with? FIFA14....i was really annoyed at the demo, the graphics were poor the game play felt the same as 13 and generally didn't seem worth the money. A couple of weeks on though and with the full game released lots of people mentioned it being vastly different to the demo and I'm happy to say that it most certainly is different and a hell of a lot better :)
