At the moment I am having some heat issues with my PC. I am currently running an i5 2500K at 4.4Ghz along with dual VTX3D HD 7970s. The current CPU cooler is the Antec Kúhler H2O 620. This is all running in a Corsair 600T. When playing games this starts to pump out some serious heat.

I was thinking of going down the watercooling route, but was wondering if I would fit everything in the 600T?

I am open to suggestions on what I can do to improve the cooling, including buying a whole new case. Any ideas?

I think you case may be a problem, ive seen many reviews on this, and the airflow isn't highly praised atall, which is a shame as its a lovely case..

I think you should be looking at the new Corsair 750D..

You can get a 240mm in the front and upto a 360mm in the top.

As you also have reference 7970's you may aswell get some waterblocks for them too and get them cooled..

Have you a budget in mind, because i could easily spend £500 of your money for you :D

Yes, sadly the performance of the 600T has never seemed that good, though when I bought it I did love the look of the case. I think one of the other issues with the VTX3D 7970s is that they just pump the hot air into the case rather than out the back.

Thanks for your help, the 750D does look nice, and a budget of around £500 would be OK.

I am also currently using a modded 620 on a i5 2500k at 4.4GHz, though I am swapping it this weekend for another cooler :D

How is the Kúhler 620 set? Do you have it sucking air from the out side through the rad or is it taking air from inside the case? I found sucking air from out side the better option. I also replaced the stock fan with 2 Venom Viper fans in a push/pull setup.

I have the same fans in push/pull, but they are taking the air from in the case. Reversing this and taking the air from outside would be a good idea, thanks.

My Rig at the moment
  • i5 2500K
  • VTX3D HD 7970 x 2
  • Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
  • Crucial M4
  • 2 x 1TB HDDs
  • Corsair AX 760 PSU
  • Asus Xonar D2X

A purple / blue UV type colour scheme would be good.

Awesome. Thanks. Any alternatives for the gpu waterblocks and the pump? I am possibly looking at ordering today.

Thanks to everyone for the help with this. All went well yesterday and I now have a rig that runs a lot cooler. At the moment it is a little noiser than I would like, so I need to turn the fans down.

The CPU is at 4.4Ghz and runs at 55C in prime95. This used to hit around 70C.

The GPUs sit at 42C in Payday 2. These were running at near 90C last week.

That looks awesome. Good show mate.

Out of interest what block did you go for?

And how is the 750D? its on my wish list. :D

Do you have the pump up in the 5.25" bays or did you go for a bay res?

I was thinking you could go something like this (excuse the crude drawing) and have a fan controller in the 5.25 drive bays :)

Yes, that is probably what I should have done in the end. I will leave that change for the next time I change something. :)

I've actually seen people mounting the res/pump at the back (where the 120mm fan is)..

Thats not a bad idea either. :D

Any more pics of this epic build mate? :D

I posted some in the 750D thread, but here they are again. :)

I can see why you were thinking about a fan controller in the drive bays, they are a little noisy at the moment, it has been a while since I have built anything so complex / excessive that I did not even consider a fan controller.

Intrested in giving this watercooling malarky a go myself, i have a 800d and wonderd if a 3770k and 7970 xfire could be cooled with a single 360 rad

You should really look at a 480 or 360 + 120 or 2x 240s. Rule of thumb seems to be 1x 120/140 per component + 1.

I've gone for a 360 + 240 to do my i5 2500k and 7970CF, just because I intend to overclock heavily and if there is any extra cooling headroom to be gained, I want it. :)

Got a do my homework on this as i dont know much at all about wc, looking at the 800d i can fit a triple fan size rad at the top and mabe a single on the rear
