What an utterly ridiculous game this can be at times. In career mode with Madrid, have Ronaldo on the new contract he recently asked for, condition is great, morale is great, yet he's just demanded to be transferred. On top of that I've just had a message from the board saying they think it's best I make it happen and they've automatically transfer listed him. Absurd :/

you are clearly not performing well enough or making sure he scores all the goals :p

anyone know what happens to transfer times when servers go down on UT?

Listed a load of players then the servers went down; imagine my horror at the thought of cech going for 150 :/

Well the game has a unfair handicap just like last year, I lowered the rating of all 3 teams to 4.5 stars and proceeded to beat people ridiculously badly, I won one game 10-0.

Looks like I won't be needing to buy the top dogs again this year, as lower rated player's with the right stats play better.

Why anyone bothers with spending money on packs when there is a clear handicap in the game is beyond me. I mean the difference is night and day.

Opposition couldn't pass or control the ball, my players won every challenge, every header, keeper saved everything, looks like any more coins I get will be put towards new teams not new players.

Even bought a 44 rated bronze guy for my bench to help the handicap

Yup. Last night Chico scored a finesse shot with his left foot from outside the box to beat Buffon while i couldn't score with Balo (hunter) from inside the box and placing the shot into the corner.

I can feel the handicap hard at times.

At the same time though, playing with high rated teams can be fun.

If for example someone bid 150 on a player then the server went down, you're out of luck, the auction timer doesn't pause for offline time.

He's always played higher than his stats in every UT I remember.

This is true. I always preferred Torres to Aguero in 13 and Agueros stats were way better. He was a beast in the air for some reason, and his finesse shots were sweeeet, even though it was 13.

the handicap is ridiculous this year.

i mean i downgraded my teams to 80, and i haven't lost a single game since, it's ridiculous.

why do EA put a handicap in, when they make their money from people buying packs to get the most expensive players?

mind you it's EA i can believe they are simply that retarded.

all my coins i get now are going towards making other teams now.

got 6 teams on the go 3 completed, 3 halfway there.

after that i may just start going crazy and building russian, turkish, scotland, etc.

imagine people's horror when they are getting beat off scotland lol, and they have the likes of 100K+ player's in their team.

Maybe they put it in to stop noobs getting their ass handed to them every game, so they stick around and buy some packs. Only to later realize, when they've probably already invested some money, that a handicap exists. :p

I'm still undecided about the whole handicap thing.

I'm the kind of person that enjoys playing with higher rated teams, 90% of all the teams I make are 5*. No, I don't win every game, and yes I do lose to people with worse teams than me, but I just accept that they are better players than me (something a lot of people can't seem to do!)

I think the psychological effect plays a HUGE part in peoples opinion of handicap. So many people just expect to win their games if they have the best players, but it just doesn't work that way. It's happened to me before, I've thought that my players are better than my opponents, I'll be able to walk the ball into the net - but it's just not that black and white. On the flip side, I've come up against a team much better than mine and it makes me want to win it more. Your attitude changes depending on if you think it will be a hard or easy game.

If people see they're coming up against a team with tons of high rated players, a lot of them will go to ultra defensive counter attack, which instantly makes it harder to break them down.

It's so easy to remember that time when your high rated player missed a sitter and the opposition low rated striker scored a screamer, but it happens - it can, does, and will happen.

If handicap was such a big deal, then my record would be terrible, as I would say I've had a better team than my opponent in 95% of my games. I'm not a great FIFA 14 player, but still have about 1.5 win/loss ratio, and that's with me struggling in early release and winning most games since retail release.

It's the same with scripting, I think that's a load of b****cks too.

I'm unsure on the handicap too, I do play better with lower rated gold squads but I think it could be due to me trying harder, not feeling as pressured to perform as I would with high rated players and just having more fun/trying new stuff.

Exactly, playing with a higher rated team makes you feel pressured to win, as if you lose it means you must be really bad

I think PS winning most of his games is down to him spending every waking minute playing or talking about the game, rather than being an obvious handicap. Ive never noticed it.
Yup. When I had my uber teams in Fifa 13 I didn't notice any real difference when I loaded the bench with stars, giving me an 86 rated team, or putting all bronze players on the bench giving me an 80 rated team.

I do think Fifa goes through periods of making you play badly though, or at least where the ball seems to bounce favourably for your opponent. I noticed it last night, twice losing games late on with goals that should've been cleared properly, but weren't. I just try to stop playing when I see it happening so I don't lose my rag too much.

:D

Nah but really, I don't really think it exists either tbh. People just go on a losing streak, or lose a bit more than they normally would, then rage sell their team and blame it on handicap. In reality if they would've just played a few more games it would've been fine.

The biggest variable is definitely the skill of the person playing, not the skill of the players they are using.
