Do Not do it.

Over the past I've been experiencing terrible download and upload speeds, for reference I pay £25 for 20mb broadband. Over the last 4 weeks it has been dropping connection from 20mb to 15mb 3 weeks ago to today, it is sitting at 1mb download and 0.14 upload. Ridicules, Having spoken to sky they mention they are "optimizing" the line. (I'm assuming what they meant, was that there seeing how much broadband I use and reducing it to a level "cap" to which I may not go over) but Being that I play games and use youtube - vimeo and other such sites, we have had no end of trouble... (Don't get me started with trying to download the AMD 13.10 drivers.... 4 hours for a 256mb file... gee thanks sky).

/Rant Over.

Cheers

I will be sticking with my £15 a month 80/20 FTTC though, with a non-commercial ISP, never get ANY hassle

This might be better in the Network forum btw ;)

Lol at the OP, clearly anyone should avoid any product because of one customers bad experience.

Anyway, my sky BB has been faultless for 4 years.

I blamed BT Infinity recently.... then I did my tests and turned out it was the homeplugs.

Slightly concerned about your going over your limit thing? Can you clarify whether or not you are going over?

Sky has been faultless for me for more than 5 years. I did have a line issue once for a bit but that was an Openreach fix.

now is the time to be upset (They're rolling out optimization for you too, soon :D)

In answer to everyone to reset routers, Have reset router 5 times - no cigar. Have reset and tested line twice, nada. Funnily enough I've had this provider for maybe close to 4-5 years myself. First problem I've had and will be the last.

talktalk give me 4mb actual download speed and 1 mb upload(broadband checker says 30mb, it never is 30mb) only hassle i have had is when we changed credit cards on the account they tried to charge the old credit card (even though we provided them with the new card details) meaning qwe had no internet for a day, other than that, their fibre is great

I've been with O2 for years with no particular issues. Now that Sky are about be takeover running my service I'm naturally nervous. :D

Had sky for 3/4 years now without problem

Recently upgraded to FTTC 80/20 everything switched over and dealt with as promised

As already stated post up your stats from the router in the test socket in networks and some clever bods can hopefully give you a diagnosis, educate yourself with this information then contact sky and hopefully you'll get it sorted asap
