Setting up a gaming group with a few close friends and was wondering how i go about getting my own Vent/TS server and how much it would cost ?

Any information is appreciated :)

Depending on how many of you there is would depend on the recommendation tbh,

10 or less I'd stick with Skype we use it most nights and it's fine with that amount of people,
Any more you'd be looking at getting a small vent/ts server best thing to do is google search them, very cheap as most places these days give it you for free when you rent a gaming server from them i.e multiplay.

There are however some free ones out there for quite a lot of people, raidcall etc.

Also depending on the game some people run voice comm servers for the community i.e Reddit has several for DayZ

DO NOT USE THESE!!!

We've been with MP for years and years, they're current months of being able to with stand DDOS.

Our server got hit 5 - 6 times a day, so much so everyone stopped coming on!

Might of been someone who had a grudge against you or do you mean the company running it ?

I use NFO servers.

How many are in your group? I have an NFO server I think it is 15 users for Teamspeak3, I was hosting it for a group but they got their own so it is sitting there with 2 more months paid just doing nothing. I can transfer it to you if you like, and then you just carry on paying it when the subscription is up or bin it and get a new one?

i know you have had issues i have had servers with them for ten years our server has been down for max of about one our in that time :D as with any server company you can have good and bad service.

also i put the link so he can see prices of what the various voice coms are to give a idea. whoever you go with its takes minutes to set up.

Is that a referral link? You may want to remove it.

Personally I'd get a cheap VPS and just run mumble on it...but if you don't have the linux knowledge for that then yeah, you're stuck with one of the usual gaming/voice providers.

If you want a free teamspeak to use then Amazon offer a server for a year for free as a trial, upon which you can host your own teamspeak server.

You're welcome ;)
