Eidos Montreal announces new Deus Ex for PS4, Xbox One and PC

A new Deus Ex title is currently in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Eidos Montreal has announced.

The title will form part a series of video games, books, graphic novels and other experiences connected together through a world known as Deus Ex: Universe, a new saga that will expand the franchise "on a regular basis" and create "a more immersive and richer experience than ever before".

"The concept behind Deus Ex: Universe is to create an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games," said Eidos Montreal studio head David Anfossi.

"It's a commitment on our part to deliver meaningful content that expands the franchise on a regular basis and to deliver a deep conspiracy that will span several connected Deus Ex games, creating a more immersive and richer experience than ever before. Deus Ex: Universe will include PC and console games, but also additional Deus Ex games and experiences available in other media such as tablets, smartphones, books, graphic novels, etc... You might have seen the name pop up recently in the press – well this is what it’s all about.

"I'm pleased to confirm that we are already into production of the starting point for Deus Ex: Universe with a new game for PC and next-generation consoles. We're very excited about it at the studio and I wanted to let you know that most of the team behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution is already working hard on this new game. It took us four years to learn how to create a unique Deus Ex experience with Human Revolution and it was important for me to keep this knowledge within the franchise."

The next-gen title will be based around the idea of "trans-humanism segregation," Anfossi says, with the first piece of concept art, pictured above, showing the game's "dark and dystopian" vision.

"For now, I hope you are excited about the future of this game that we love so much. Deus Ex is coming to next-gen, it's early so don't expect to hear much more from us just yet, but I wanted you to know."

A release date and title for the game has yet to be confirmed.

Oh noes - another awesome FPS title limited by console hardware - even if it is New Gen. Me prepares for much aim assistance, limited memory usage and laggy horrible curser movement and PC menu systems straight from the Xbox.

Waaaaahhhhh Gaaahhhhhhh Blehhhhh

Meh

(disclaimer -I cant read that link from work so disregard everything I say :p)

I was going to post something about this earlier but my enthusiasm has been dealt a blow after the last false promises.

I copied all the text from the link, your only missing out on a concept art picture

Cheers!

Information is thin on the ground it seems, but I am a big Deus Ex fan. I even managed to (somehow) enjoy Invisible war on the PC.

I have to say that I really enjoyed HR + Missing Link. If DX4 improves on HR I will be happy.

I would love to see a remake of the original though, maybe as bonus content. Remapped with a modern engine. Now that would be a kick ass bonus! :D

Awesome news. Love Deus Ex. One of my favourite franchises.

Been wanting to replay Human Revolution but I am waiting on the directors cut for the PC which is taking its time to be released.

Good news, turns out the directors edition of human revolution will hit the PC on 22nd October. Looking forward to that. Just hope we don't have to pay full whack again for it, as I already have augmented edition.

It's gonna be awesome. Not only remade boss fights, but The Missing Link is going to be integrated in to the main game!

I hope they get rid of the 3rd person cover system. I hope they sort out the sluggish aiming, I hope they add more depth into the world with more areas.

Other than that. YAYYYYYYYYY

It'll be interesting to see what part of the timeline they choose to focus on. Hopefully, there'll be a reference or two to JC (the voice of reason). Can't wait.

I just choked on my coffee!

I'm a little skeptical about the 'universe' concept, but if it produces even just one game as good as Human Revolution I'll be happy.

I wonder when this will be set? My guess is between 3 and 1, although I couldn't care less as long as it's good.
