Cigarette Prices

I dont smoke cigs but my friend who does normally buys an Eastern European version of Marlb Lights for £5 (20 pack) from the local corner shop. Off course they don't advertise it but if you ask around Im sure a lot of them do this :)

that raises a good question to the smokers here.. how much does your weekly habbit cost you?

costs me ~ £8 a week for roll ups, a 50g pouch lasts me about 5 days, if i was having to buy 20 cigs a day at £8 i think id have to quit

I quit over 5 years ago but remember about 6 months after quitting queuing up at the counter to pay for some gum (not nicotine gum) the Lambert and Butlers I used to buy kept catching my eye. They were sparkling away and seemed to have a life of their own.. until I noticed they had changed the packets to be all sparkly :) That freaked me out.

Mainly because we had the willpower to quit this disgusting habit - know it wasn't easy but at the end of the day saw that there was absolutely zero benefit from actually continuing to do it.
As there are still a bunch of people who continue to smoke - either not seeing exactly what these ****** things do to you or convince everyone they aren't addicted, they could stop when they like and it's well worth the detriment in health to stink of fags all day - maybe putting the up to some stupid price would knock some sense into these idiots.

We can "be militant" because we've actually done it and know how bad it is for you, what it does to your health and taste buds and what it makes you smell of.
Those who have never smoked are basing their argument on what others say - they haven't experienced it for themselves.
 
Some of the reactions in here are absolutely ridiculous, I always wondered why alcohol doesn't have this much hatred towards it, when it is just as dangerous!

I have been off cigarettes for nearly 2 years now (will be 2 years on 1st January, my first New Year resolution I have ever kept!) but I still like the idea of smoking. I will probably never take up the habit again as I am getting married next year and I don't like the idea of smoking maybe causing my partner to widow young or something, but I would never thrust this on anyone. People are free to live how they like, all my friends still smoke, and I don't think they "stink" , in fact, I quite like the smell of tobacco smoke!

Not everyone is the same, do we shout at people for spitting in the street? That is probably more vile than someone enjoying a cigarette after their dinner.
 
It`s great if you can cold turkey off them at will, but a lot of people I know who cant\wont give up, have some kind of stress going on, they mostly want to put off giving up at a point in the future when they feel less stressed, but they rarely find that happy ready state, addiction can be a bitch!

These people will pay whatever it cost`s until they find a cheaper and a just as available option, usually the black market, or vaping.

So yes the prices will forge ahead for now because governments like it, they get money and are seen to be saving lives.

There does seem to be a new social divide now, a them and us culture, that cant be a good thing.
 
The price was part of the reason I decided to quit as well has the health benefits you get by giving up.

Me and the girlfriend have started to use those rechargable E-cigs, finding it very good so far, I do crave the odd fag but just have a few puffs of the E-cig and it passes.

I'm saving just over £50 a week now has I smoked about 15 a day so was buying 20 fags daily.
 
I think it hilarious the amount of people that are smoking the e-cigs, have you seen the sort of **** the chinese make??? and you want to take something they have made and breathe it all in lmao ill stick to my bensons ;)

when i started secondary school my mum used to give me 60p lunch money and 10 fags left me with little change :(
