I think an i7 and a decent overclocked 7950 is enough for this game and i have a video on youtube in the morning to prove it. With BF3 it was 'oh ur gona need 2x 580's to play this maxed out'. Now were getting similar comments for BF4 and this just isnt true. I'd question peoples system if it cant be played on similar hardware that others run BF4 fine on. Of course there is some bugs but thats to be expected. I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium and its running rather peachy for me :)

Btw i ran BF4 maxed out @ 3840x1080 earlier and it was using 2.6GB VRAM over about 10-15 minutes. Obviously not playable on 2 screen with crosshairs split between them but i just wanted to test it out. I was averaging around 30-40fps :p

7950s just have a LOT more horsepower than any 680/770 (Doesnt become noticable until you actually push them, BF4 DOES push them). I never doubted that 7950s would run BF4.

You do they are filling you full of #### right? what they are telling you there is they are getting not far from double the FPS on their GTX 760 than GTX 680 users are getting, lol...

Oh you're back, update your valley thread please.

And yea i know they're full of it.

7950s aren't faster than 680/770. Unless you're talking super high res or triple screen.

Source: I've had both :p

BF4 pushes the RAM and the bandwidth of both cards. And 79xx has superior RAM and bandwidth, which is probably why it doesnt stutter like GK104.

Would you say GK104 is faster than 7970s?

There's loads of games which push the RAM and bandwidth but at 1080p the 7950 just ain't quicker than a 680/770. It ain't much slower but as a black/white point it isn't quicker.

The 7970 is quicker than a 680/770 but that isn't what you originally stated so....

In fact I remember my 7950 at 1250/1750 being roughly around 8% slower than my 680 at 1280/1700.

Nobody doubted a 7950 would play BF4...
7950s aint as powerful as the 680s or 770s...most if not all games @1080 are not memory bandwidth limited, so having a smaller bus doesn't impede performance.

Your bandwidth is still slow. And maybe its 1.6gb because it dumped some on to HDD?

HDD?? Really

We understand you're an AMD fanboy, grats btw. Just try not to spread misinformation.

1. Never said anything else.
2. Notice i used a question mark implying im not 100% sure about the HDD RAM swap.
3. Please try to act as if you're over the age of 12.

BF3 is Nvidia optimized you know, and it doesnt fill the frame buffer as much. So your RAM doesnt start dumping on to HDD (Which causes stuttering, and is also the reason why you should have atleast 3gb VRAM :) )

Why is there no question mark on that? Sounds like you're pretty certain that's what happens. You even give an explanation, nice.

I have hit a sweet spot and keeping my frame rate at solid 60fps on Ultra/couple high settings with SMAA ultra

Game resolution is set to 120hz 1080p and I have locked the frame rate to 60fps, this alone has made the game so much smoother..

Un-capped frame rate and its all over the place 100's 90's 60's makes the game feel jerky.

My max CPU is around 70-80% and all cores 70/80/90%

So try this if you running a 120hz monitor and trying to let your frame rate push hard, leave the game at 120hz to still enough the fast refresh rate but cap your frame rate at 60fps...

Let me know what you think..

It does, its called RAM allocation, but i was not 100% sure it was the case where he had 1.6GB RAM usage and was still lagging.

Probably his CPU, his low ram usage is down to the settings used considering it was on LOW!

It's noway "Proof" that Nvidia sucks blah blah or their limited memory bandwidth is the cause lmao...if you look through the thread you'll see loads of people reporting single digit minimums from both sides. The thing they all have in common is a native quad CPU.
