HD 7990 performance

He has an FX8350, his CPU is more than enough.

No it's not.

But that doesn't explain his FPS, it's very likely it's a Crossfire problem.

To get the most out of a 7990, you really need an i7 in about 99% of games, but that doesn't mean he's get unplayable FPS etc, it just means he's getting less than he could be.

But lets not bring CPU's into this.

It's definitely xfire is so as I said I was getting 95 fps with my 7870 xt.in tombraider I am getting 220 fps max in benchmark so it must be thAt f1 doesn't like xfire.

I just did some googling for F1 2012 crossfire. Not sure if I can link to the results but one particular review site shows that it prefers Intel to AMD CPU's, it prefers Nvidia to AMD GPU's and it gets better results with a single card than with SLI or crossfire.

So an 83x0 with crossfire is the worst combination possible for this game.

You can disable crossfire with the 7990, but you need to create a profile for the game.

Open CCC, select the 'Gaming' tab then '3D Applications Settings', click on 'Add' then select the .exe that launches your game, click the 'Open' tab at the bottom and that'll add the profile to CCC, now click on the profile and scroll down to the bottom of the screen where the Crossfire options are and you will now have the option to disable crossfire. Click 'Save' and voila, next time you run the game it'll only use 1 GPU. You can double check this when the game is running, you should have a green light on the back of the card lit up next to the 2nd GPU.

EDIT: Also if you want to go back to xfire, just click on the profile again and select 'Default' and make sure frame pacing is on. Or if you've finished with it just delete it.

Hope that helps

That's great thanks for your help mate il give it ago,the game still runs smooth so it's not spoiling the gameplay in anyway but il give that ago and see if it improves it.

That's good, because when you play a game that IS Crossfire friendly you should see a good boost :) (but as mentioned, your CPU will be holding you back quite a bit)

Just run the F1 2013 Benchmark on this 8350/7970 system and get 117 FPS average at 1080p all settings max. Cpu is at stock and 7970 is a Matrix Platinum.

I would say you have some kind of issue there tbh.

From memory I think I set up a profile in radeonpro to use crossfire and chose use AFR from drop down list. If I remember rightly it almost doubled the frames. This may have been for F1 2011 though rather than F1 2012 but worth a try ....

i just played F1 2013 and benchmarked my 7950 twin Frozr OC BE and on stock settings of the card as you get it out of the box on ultra and everything ramped up on 2560 x 1440 im getting 70fps!

Have you got new drivers on the card? New Beta ones as they are good for a change

Yeah using latest drivers,I've disabled xfire like sinbad sugested and the fps has gone upto 81 but nowhere near what I think I should be gettin.

I would try creating a profile on radeonpro and forcing using afr.exe crossfire profile from drop down list. As stated I think it nearly doubled my frames on a 6990 - nothing to lose if it doesn't work.

with my 6990 at stock i get 90fps avg with every setting at max

I tryed the afr in the ccc when doing the profile and got around about the same fps,I'm thinking of doing a full install of the os as I think there maybe some conflict somewhere but it doesn't seem to affect crysis3 or tombraider as I'm getting great fps which think is strange as if there was a conflict it would affect all games.
