GF wants me to go to church with her......

No idea who Robert Morley is.

Islam is pagan. Believe what you will.

Anyhow, OP. I wouldn't go to a pentecostal church, it's not Christian, it's just a cult.

Well, you should as you are promoting a position that he is primarily responsible for, and has been debunked by linguistics and historians alike.

The term Allah simply means The God...it has its roots in Semtic languages that predate Islam, the word Al ilah for example was used to mean the god in pre Islam Arabic, and the moon God of pre-Islamic Mecca was called Ilah...all of the terms are simply the English equivalent to god, the general term for deity rather than God as in the way expressed in the Abrahamic Faiths of Judaism, Christianity and Islam respectively. Simply put, Allah in Islam refers to the monotheistic God of Abraham, and not a creator God of Pre-Islamic Meccan Society. The similarity in the etymology of the terminology is coincidental to language formation and evolution, not to be confused with different specific Deities from other religions.

You are telling people to do their research, yet it is your research that is somewhat lacking or at least misinformed..

Tell her that's fine but you expect the corresponding amount of time of bum fun or whatever floats your. Boat

This really...

Or go along with an empty mind, see what its about and if you don't like don't go again and she will be happy that you tried it... Simples.

The Koran clearly states “no son did Allah beget”.

Islam sees Jesus Christ as a primary Prophet rather than The Son of God...Judaism doesn't accept Jesus as the Son of God either, and Jesus made no claims that the God of the Jews was not the God to which he referred...so your point is superfluous at best.

How are your wifes church interpreting 1 Corinthians 7:12-14?
"12 But to the rest speak I, not the Lord: If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away.

13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him.

14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy."

Too lazy to research?

Yes they believe in a single god but it's a pagan moon god idol. You have 0 understanding of english obviously.

No it really isn't contradictory because you obviously have 0 understanding.

Good day ignoramus.

You're not explaining why. This isn't how arguments or debates work. You do not simply state your position, refuse to clarify what you mean and why you are saying what you are, and then call others ignorant because they aren't researching what you said.

It would have been so much more simple to state why you're saying what you are than skirt around actually taking part in a debate you willingly entered in to.

What has that got to do with anything? My wife is a Catholic, and not a very devout one.

I was pointing out that these sciptures clearly are not given by the same God.

The three faiths are of the God of Abraham, yes obviously and they all have the same angel Gabriel.
The far from superfluos statement I made was the God in the Koran is clearly against the Jews and Christians and so not the same God in principle.
Some more koran quotes:
“Allah turned Sabbath breaking Jews into apes” [2:65-66]
“Jews and Christians believe in idols and false deities.” [4:51]
”Jews and Christians are evil-livers.” [5:59]
“Don’t take Jews or Christians for friends. If you do Allah will consider you to be one of them.” [5:51]

Hi I am back again. :)

Erm, the OP's wife saying the church gets them to leave unbelievers and said church follows the writings I quoted from, which seems to contradict their practice.

*Edit. Here.

That would be fine but that would mean she would also be dispelled from the church, according to their rules her partner has to be a Christian for her to stay being a member, it's a ****ing crazy nut place.

**Edit. Actually on further reading of 1 Corinthians 7 I am a little unsure how valid Paul is in the matter as he states "he not the Lord says" before. Hmm.

Keep well C.

The Qur'an also makes more than a few statements promoting, and in fact insisting upon tolerance and acceptance toward The People of Scripture (People of The Book)...The Qur'an makes reference specifically to Jews, Christians and Sabians. It recognises that all the pre-Islamic Abrahamic faiths, such as Christianity, Judaism, Sabians etc are the same God as the Islamic Allah. That Islam regards its antecedents as either corrupted or incomplete doesn't make the point you are eliciting that the Islamic God is not the same God as Judaism or Christianity...so as I said, your statement is superfluous at best.

I will forgo addressing each of your quotes with an explanation of the context as it would be time consuming and pointless given your religious predilection.

The Qur'an says if there are conflicting points in its writings then something written later over rides the former.
Would be interesting to see where the points you refer to come in relation to the ones I quoted within the Qur'an.

A difference in theology doesn't equate to a difference in the God you both Worship.

I am afraid it does in practise and theory.
Keep searching/seeking C.

By that very statement, you may not realise it but you are saying that Christianity worships many different Gods. As each denomination and biblical interpretation would imply a theory and practice in which each worships a different God...rather than simply having a different perspective on the nature and scriptures of the One God.

And I will keep at it...that is a given.

James 2:19: "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that — and shudder.": "You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that — and shudder."

*Edit. I will keep striving also.

Those quotes aren't relevant to their gods whether one or different only to their practises.

Eh? I read this thread yesterday and it was about a guy being asked to go to church by his Christian girlfriend. I wake up today and its talking about Islam. Only in GD! :D
