Crossfire a 280x with a 7970?

If not can the 7970 be flashed to a 280x? I'm not after one yet, just interested

What about a 7990 with A 280/290X?

You should be abl to crossfire a 280 with a 7950/7970/7990 as they are all variants of the same card.
