EVGA PSU's ?

quick question about evga psu's, ive heard they can have problems with certain mobos, and they're cheap for what you get

would anyone say this is a bad psu?

I was going to go for a EVGA psu but I struggled to find good reviews anywhere about them, sempt to be a lot of horror stories of them blowing boards etc after a short period aswell.

Yes, FSP is the OEM although these EVGA units do not get very good reviews. I would rather go with a Seasonic, Antec, XFX or Corsair RM series.

The only good EVGA PSU review ive read is of the SuperNova G2 1000w, it seems decent.

Can I find something decent and modular for arround £70-£80, I will be having an overclocked 4670k and a 7970 matrix platinum ?

If you only will be using a single gfx card there is a Antec High Current Gamer 620W modular PSU for £79.99

FSP is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer).

They are a company that actually manufacture PSU's.

Most of the companies you buy PSU's from don't actually make them. They are made by companies like CWT, Delta, Seasonic, FSP to name but a few. These companies usually don't sell directly to consumers, with the exception of Seasonic as an obvious one, and I know there area few FSP units around.

Seasonic and Delta are two good manufactures and FSP are usually pretty good. But as has been found in this thread just because an OEM generally makes good PSU's doesn't necessarily mean they are all good.

For around the £70 - £80 mark you'd be looking at these, all will run your rig with a single GPU

FSP (Fortron Source Power) as oceaness says, is a OEM builder of psu's. They are the 5th largest psu manufacturer in the world. Their psu's used to suffer from high ripple, especially the early OCZ units but it's not so much a problem these days. My Zalman is a FSP unit and is by far the best and quietest psu i have ever had.
