hi guys..

been running BF4 at 1080p since it got released.

randomly it started crashing my system at 1080, everything on high, with AA off.

so i dropped it down to 720, with everything ultra, AA off.

and to be honest, i cant tell the differance between 720 and 1080 ?

or is it just me :D ?

but BF4 plays a lot smooother now, so im not such a noob anymore

I'm assuming you're close to your monitor? Although even at a distance I can tell the diff (but only with my glasses, damn short sighted-ness).

If you can't tell then might wanna book an eye test :p

so youve lowered the quality and the framerates are better :)

if the drop in quality doesnt bother you (?) then thats fine

huh

lol, it means im a lot better now that its not crashing my system :)

Ye, dosnt bother me at all :)

Not exactly lol, im sat about 8 feet away :D, i game in my living room on the 42" TV :)

when you are running a game in a resolution that is not native for your monitor, you are going to notice the blur and the drop in definition. 720p res on a 720p monitor looks perfect but on a 1080p, not so much.

i personally cant play or watch or do anything if it's not running on native res. i just go crazy

Out of interest what temperatures are you seeing on your GPU during the game at 1080?

Hi, the max temp it reached was 66c.

i found out the reason for crashing. i had my card clocked @ 1150/1550.

and i think i just got a bad one out of the bunch :(, as geeman said yesterday to me "Silicone Graveyard" lol.

so i had to drop my clocks right down to 1060/1460.

What TV model is it?

I had a 50" Panasonic PHD8 and the native resolution was 1366x768. Though it accepted 1080p as an input, it would internally scale it down to size.

If you have a TV like that, of course you won't see a difference.

I've since upgraded it to a 55" Panasonic VT50 and that is a true 1080p TV and things do look sharper.

To be honest, the first thing I would do is make sure the overclock on the FX6300 and the 7850 is actually stable...

my FX6300 clock is stable, ran 24 hour prime one each test and breezed through it.

I think your right, thinking back, my res is 1366x768...

its only a HD ready, not a Full HD :(, lol, well, at least we know why i cant see the difference :D

good news though, upgrading tv soon to a 55" full HD, so will be able to see then :)

Always use the native resolution, it'll look much better.

Games should give you the option to use 1366x768 as long as you have Windows 7 or higher (Windows XP tended to need Powerstrip)
