Kidney Stones

Worst pain I've ever had was throwing up everywhere.. absolutely terrible!

I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Brother-in-law had these, and spent 3 days in hospital in absolute agony. Not sure what was worse, the pain or the eighty thousand dollar bill.

Really feel for anyone that gets these, horrible! (I believe his condition may have been down to drinking a heavy amount of iced tea and coke).

It was 90k earlier in the thread :p :D

Nowt in the UK!

Still got mine! Not passed yet. Been months now. It's too small to blast now though which is better than it being too big as it was before.

Well I've been the unfortunate recipient of a kidney stone, apparently it was blocking the ureter causing urine to return to the kidney leading to swelling :-/

Hospital admission and a dose of lithotripsy managed to break it up but still having problems now. Stones are very likely to scar tissue and I've had to undergo a Flexi cystoscopy as a result!

Just counting down the days till the next one as has been said the pain is well known to be comparable with child birth!

I'm now pretty paranoid about stones! Have many people never had kidney or bladder stones? Not looking forward to it if it is an inevitable thing! Do women get stones too?

Got up this morning thinking it was going to be just another Saturday for me then ...

Dear Mother of God sweet baby Jesus, pain like I have never experienced was inside my left kidney trying to get out and kill me! My partner found me writhing around on the bathroom floor in agony.

Anyway, long story short - quick trip to hospital, seen within 10(!) minutes and thanks to the modern miracle that is prescription drugs, I am now feeling a lot better!

I know there have been a few gall stone posts here, and I've no idea what that pain is like compared to kidney stones, but if it's worse, then I truly feel for you gall stone sufferers!

You got off lucky,

i was admitted into hospital in for 5-6 days on morphine because of how much pain i was in...

Not every man will get a kidney stone! Throw of the dice I guess. Mine is still waiting to come out!

Well, had my follow up consult yesterday. Had ultrasound a few weeks ago and it broke up the stone and I passed it which was (surprisingly) less painful than having the stone in the first place. Passing it was more of a sharp, scraping sensation than the hell that was the pain of having it inside me blocking a tube.

Anyway, consult told me that I now have a 50% chance of producing another one within 5 years assuming I don't change my lifestyle.

So, plenty of water and less salt seems to be the basic premise of tackling them recurring.

Ok so I had a kidney stone and passed it in November but I still had niggling pains up until about a week ago. Yesterday I again had the sharp pain but quick pain when the stone passes through the urethra but never passed it when urinating. So I'm just sitting at the computer and notice something resembling another stone sitting on top of my duvet.

Looks like a 2nd smaller stone has come out of my d*ck while sleeping last night without the need to urinate it out, weird.

I had another scan in November and I still have 20+ stones sat in my left Kidney just waiting to give me grief in the future.

On the 20th Dec I passed one (my 11th in 2013!) and then got treated to a UTI over the xmas period.

Lack of sleep, severe cold shivers, extreme sweats, blurred vision and hyper sensitivity were all a big part of my holiday which was not fun and it was the worst infection I've had to date..
