Argos have the Surface 2 (not the Pro) for collection as early as Saturday I've noticed.

Not sure if it will really be there but it is possible to reserve it.

Good point I hadn't thought about that, purple shirts do next day delivery IIRC, not sure about Microsoft.

Windows 8.1 Pro seems available now.

If you click on the I installed Preview from the store option, it opens the MS store and starts downloading 8.1.

I'm all set on getting the Surface 2 RT.
I'm just very sceptical about RT's longevity, Baytrail tablets are so enticing, except their build quality.
If ONLY this was the standard of device available last year.

Using a current RT with the 8.1 installed and I am seriously impressed how much faster it seems!, still gonna hold out and see what Nokia have to offer, but these will be very speedy machines with a better SoC

8.1's definitely worth having.

My last reservation only now I would tell people is to be happy with the marketplace, the 8.1 update has really polished the metro side of Win8.

I hate saying it so bluntly, but I cannot fathom going back to Droid or iPad style tablets, they have got this right and they still have some way to go.

Well I'm hopping the price of them drops to like £100, as I'm totally skint, two hard months. Last month some custom boots, and this month partying and eating and London trip. But i need something asap. So hoping rt tablet will drop significantly once surface 2 is out. Then upgrade as and when i can.
Might be able to get some extra work over christmas.
