Man drives without license for 40 years

it doesn't need to be insured under his name.
It does if he's driving it.

You can't hold valid insurance to drive a car unless you have a license to drive it, if you insure a car without a license and tell them you have one you're committing fraud and the insurance is invalid, same as having no insurance at all.

I can't say it's surprising really, I imagine theres a few of these types out there. I've known people who say they didn't have insurance for best part of a decade, silly *******s.

That's not his point. His point. The point is if the car was insured under another persons name it wouldn't set off the likes of ANPR. He's still not insured to drive it but the car is insured.

There we go, I didn't think I'd worded it that obtusely :p

Gotta remember that the penalty is for the license only and they can tack other charges on top. People go to jail for driving with no license, insurance etc all the time although it's usually because they've been caught multiple times.

I have never been stopped or come into contact with traffic police in over 5 years, its more than possible to do but bloody risky.

Yes good on them. Oh no not breaking the law :o None of them have been stopped and I fail to see how its putting people at massive financial risk? If they crash into someone (which they have), they pay the bill. Problem solved.

Do they tarmac peoples' drives too?

They pay the bill?

So they write off someones £50k BMW and then just magic all this cash out of their ass?

If they are that well off why don't they get a license and insurance?

Looked him up how?

If he's never had a licence or insurance there will be no motoring record for him.

Just some old geezer gassing that he's been driving for 40 years without a licence to OB.

Err asked for his name and address? Have you never been collared by the police? :p

If they put someone in a wheelchair for the rest of their life? Can they pay that away?

40 years without a license or even evidence of passing his test?

I'd hazard a bet that he's a better driver than the majority of people who do pass their test and so are "qualified" to be on the roads.

Yes you're probably right and that's why he's not been caught, at least contributed to it. However that does not 'allow' him to drive without the licenses and insurance.
