Hangover Prevention

Electrolytes, water and food.

Water is fantastic but if you've wee'd out your electrolytes you won't actually be getting rehydrated.

I'm a boring chap that just doesn't drink enough :p

Can't be dealing with not functioning the next day, nothing worse than wasting a day in bed feeling sorry for yourself.

This is me to a T. I don't like the feeling of being really drunk (tipsy is fine) but feeling all slow and out of control isn't appealing to me, neither is the hangover.

The last time I was really drunk (about a year ago), I was in tears on the way home blubbing about how ill I was going to be the next day  and I was.

I generally know my limits and can stop drinking before I get too bad!

On topic, stodgy food like chips, loads of water before bed, then a big glass of orange juice on waking up tends to help. Though sometimes nothing I have done has helped... :(

I don't mix drinks, and if I am having more than a couple I stick to whisky. I don't know why but it never gives me hangover.

Preventing a hangover completely is impossible after a hard night.

However you can deal with a hang over by eating well whilst drinking, drinking plenty of water when you get home and then having a solid meal when you get up/more water.

I always make sure I have Large Chips with Cheese and beans before I head home after a night out and then 1 point milk or water before bed. Always feel great the next day + I always have English fry up on Sunday as well ha

A couple of multivitamins and a pint of milk before a session will certainly help but if you really want to slow the absorption rate down take a couple of glugs of olive oil.

Drink about 3 pints of water before I go to bed after a night out.

A bottle of mineral water usually does the trick. You'll be going to the toilet a lot after a night on the tiles, so you'd better hope you can wake up, or there could be an accident!

Typically you should also intersperse your drinking with some food (usually a Chinese meal or a Curry - Pizza and chips can be a little OTT).

Next morning, have a Vit-C or Berocca, keep up the water intake and have healthy food.

I had a one-off boozy night with some Police staff, and had around 9 pints. Around pint 7 I had a chicken chow mein. Went back to room, forced myself to down 1.5Ltr of Mineral water then went to bed. You need to keep topping up the water all night too... dehydration is the hangover.

Find the right drinks for you and know your limits. for me, red wine I can drink about 1 and 3/4 bottles and be ok the next day. Lager about 8-9 pints and be ok. I'm useless with spirits. Takes me a day and a half to recover. With shots, I'm the same. I once did 2 bottles of white wine and felt like crap all the next day.

Everyone is different, many people seem to favour vodka, but I can't take it. I stick to what I know I can drink and feel ok after. There's a lot to be said about mixing drinks. If you were at home/had a party and had 10 pints of one lager, it's better than going to 10 pubs and having 10 different pints. For me anyway.

Threads like this make me miss University. Nothing like a whole bottle of black sambuca, a few pints of cider and about 30 shots of other spirits throughout the night to process the next morning!

I think you need to do your maths on the time taken to process a unit of alcohol!

Many people are still drunk the next day, but just assume a sketchy night's sleep is all they needed.

Half drunk morning sex, then a cup of tea and a fry up, get her to wash her hands first though.

Then drink sugary pop. Irn Bru or Tizer is most excellent.

1 pint of water per every unit of alcohol and never more than 1 unit per hour.

There you go, you'll never be drunk either. :p

Years in the making, without any kind of hangover prevention I'll be vomiting periodically and hating life the next day as I go about my business so I take my prevention pretty seriously.

2 RU21 before drinking
(Skinful)
2 RU21 after
1 pint of water with 2 electrolyte supplements in it
2 more pints of water
preferably a sandwich or something before bed

wake up, strong coffee, another electrolyte tablet in a pint of water, something fried and full of protein, a berocca, a couple of asprin and a couple of paracetemol. Then a hot shower and usually I feel pretty human again.

The RU21 stuff is suprising, I didn't expect it to work but it makes a difference I'd say.
