Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

According to the description on simplys site, keys are mailed out approximately 24 hours before the game is released. Also preordered the game + premium from there.

I have a pretty beefy gaming laptop, it has an i7 quad core cpu, 16gb RAM, and a 4gb 680m. BF3 ran fine, but it did have some slowdown on the highest settings when playing in big servers, which annoyed me. I like everything to be smooth. I imagine I'll have the same issues with BF4.

To be fair I didn't really spend time looking into what settings were the performance hogs, I just took everything down a notch.

8Gb of ram is gona be enough for this game right?

I looked for more sammy greens but couldnt find any stock.

I was seeing spikes to ~9gb use in the beta (on a fairly clean/trimmed OS install with no extra software running) but I'm guessing it was due to being beta rather than how it will run in retail.

AA settings plus ambient occlusion are the biggest FPS killers I find!

IIRC, next up would be shadows, texture stuff plus mesh detail.

Beta ran fine for me with 8GB! (on windows 7)

Plus I use a fair bit of RAM whilst just in windows with my usual stuff i.e. browsing (firefox with loads of tabs open), AV, firewall, winamp etc. running (all that uses about 3GB)

The new king has arrived.
Absolutly amazing delivery with the 290x and with BF4 and Mantle, oh my

LtMatt will have two soonish...

Have you got this card yet or are you just fantiscising and masturbating over the prospect of ownership?

I'm just going to run 3x7950's and declock (only using 60Hz 1920x1200)-----I'm not spending 1200 on 2xgpu when 7950's do all I need for now.

How would a 7950 perform on 2560x1440? - Currently gaming at 1920 on a 23" inch, but considering making a jump to a 27", but not sure if its really worth it just to get the extra pixel density?

i7 3770 @ 4.5
16gb ram
120gb SSD

Honestly, not great. When I ran a 7950 at 1200mhz at 4.6Ghz I hit 45 fps min mean 59-60 @ 1920x1200 on a 28" screen.

With a single 7950 you'd most likely hit sub 30fps at 1440 resolution. (Even if highly overclocked). I doubt if even an R9 290x will give 60fps min's at that resolution either, I've not seen any benchies so may be wrong. The 290x has a significant bandwidth increase which might help at higher res!!!

Best advice is get another 7950 or lower your resolution to obtain 60fps min.

Interesting read about the memory speed providing a noticeable boost in frame rates.

I'm guessing that going to the X79 platform with quad channel memory could potentially provide even more of an increase to frame rates.

I've certainly found the x79 platform plays this well.

3 x 7950's for 1920x1200 60hz.....

currently running a 3570k, 16GB RAM and a 6950 2Gb @ 2560*1440
Beta seemed more than playable, grabbing a 2nd 6950 just in case tho :)

Quick Q, if I grab a copy of BF4 without china rising will it be included as part of premium?
