mega storms uk next week

We do not get hurricanes in the UK:

In terms of meteorological definitions it is just not possible to get a hurricane or a tropical storm in the British Isles.

Best quote I can find to support that for now, there is a more indepth article somewhere on the BBC site from the metoffice explaining how no matter how windy it gets, we don't get hurricanes.

Correct, this is a low pressure system with potentially hurricane force winds, not an actual hurricane

I'm not sure why people are more worried, washing lines and even fences could be blown away, just think of the destruction.

Combined high winds with autumnal leaf drop is what scares the **** out of me, I mean the two alone are bad enough but combining them is nothing short of cataclysmic in this country.

I predict train delays, and possibly the sighting of men with brooms or a road sweeper of some kind.

Dunno about you lot, but this weekend I'll be cowering in terror.

Stay safe OcUK.

I agree, it could be catastrophic. Get to your nearest supermarket ASAP and stock up. Also fill your cars and jerry cans to the brim.

Are you mad? The supermarkets will be a dog-eat-dog frenzy of shelf stripping chaos, no sane person would even attempt such a feat.

I'll send the Mrs.

As we get closer it is looking more likely that there could be some disruptive winds, hardly a mega storm though.

If there are winds of 80MPH like currently expected there will probably be quite a few trees going down considering most still have a lot of leaves and the ground is soft from the rain.

Ok this is looking pretty serious
