Well... yeah....I see on the Hornet FAQ that one of the most comon questions, is that people are not seeing their new hornets due to the soft cap of the client/hangar, which caps the max ships at 15 (this can be edited to a higher number on the config file)......so people already have more than 15 ships.......this sort of financial spend is nuts!
Its very clever marketing.....I think a few people might be a bit annoyed when they discover everyone has the ships they spent $5k+ on, with a few months of playing time.
While staring at their credit card bill and monthly outgoings, while johnny come lately who has spent $40 on the game is flying everything he has spent money on for free while on his summer holidays playing.
Well... yeah....
You're talking about the likes of Freelancer players who have given 10 years of their lives to staring at a screen and pressing buttons. They view it as investing in making sure this is the greatest gosh-darn button-pressy-thing they've ever known!
PRESS ALL TEH BUTTUNZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
We won't talk about the 43-odd straight hours I spent doing 3-minute trade runs, though...!![]()
What's the difference between the people with the money to back, and the people with the time to play? They're both earning the ships in different ways.
Mr. £100k A Year may want to experience all the ships but not really have the time to 'grind' to them all, rather preferring to have all options available and pave their way slowly using them.
Mr. Summer Holidays has a lot of time to invest in the game and can earn the ships in their own (slower) way.
They're both earning the ships to enjoy the game, and it has no bearing on your experience whatsoever - except those pledging early are supporting the game pre-launch.
Easy now.....I didnt say it affected my experience.....nor did I say there was anything wrong with it.
I have supported the game with $270 and sub each month, so im not against the funding of the game.
I was just thinking that some people that get carried away and spend $5k+ up front might feel a bit bitter when someone gets all they have for free.....as I probably would.
Oh of course.....not saying there is anything wrong with it.....I just personally cant get round someone paying $5k+.
Nothing against people who buy it all, theyre helping make a great game. Just not my cup of tea.
When I think of this game, I think the fun parts are going to be building wealth and trading in order to fund new ships. If I started out with every ship available I really think it would detract from what I perceive to be the fun of the game. Im willing to take the insurance hit as part of that.

Folks what is the difference between the Weekend Warrior Hornet for 180 and the Super Hornet for 165?
$15?
Sorry couldn't resist..
So just to confirm will the SuperHornet be eventually available in game to purchase for credits?
