Unfortunately, the other thread was closed due to persistent trolling by the usual suspects but I've noticed improved mpg since the treatment was done.

I didn't notice any improvements in emissions immediately after the treatment as my emissions were well below the limits already eg. 11ppm hydrocarbons (limit is 200ppm), but I've done over 1000 miles since the treatment and I HAVE noticed an improvement in mpg both on the trip computer and using Fuel Log with brim to brim fill ups.

Previously, I have never been able to break the 400 mile range on my car. With normal usage, I usually got around 370 miles before I got the 'Refuel Now' warning (this is the final warning after the fuel light), or if I really try to eek out the fuel eg. doing one of Fox's eco runs, I might get 380 miles. Now I'm breaking 400 miles every time on one tank of petrol with ease.

Town driving mpg isn't vastly different, and neither is the mpg when you're ragging the car. The biggest difference is seen during constant part throttle conditions such as cruising speeds the motorway. Previously doing a journey from Nottingham <> London, I'd be looking at 47/48mpg average with cruise set to 60mph. Same journey, same cruise setting (with the occasional blast past slow traffic and to relieve boredom) and I'm getting a solid 50/51mpg. And that's taken from multiple runs from London <> Nottingham etc.

I'm impressed. Clearly a cleaner internal engine makes for a more efficient engine.

Suck it up Howard and Janesy B! :D

Every penny counts! :D

Roughly £5k spent on petrol p/a and even a 5% fuel economy improvement results in £250 saved per year :p

Even £2.5k spent p/a (ie Average Joe) and you've recouped your costs in a year with additional savings going forwards :D

Pardon?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Out of interest, are the test conditions, i.e. weather (temperature) and traffic the same in your 'before and after' tests? Can you be sure this isn't the placebo effect of you wanting an increase in fuel economy and thus driving accordingly? It doesn't have to be vast differences, just things such as really looking ahead so you don't have to adjust your throttle inputs as much for overtakes and whatnot - I've found it's easy to make a difference to motorway fuel economy by just paying a little bit more attention.

£250 could be saved in many other ways with your car... driving slower in a higher gear; inflating tyres a bit more; driving intelligently (conservation of momentum); accelerating far slower etc.

Tbh for that small a saving I wouldn't bother.
Too many variables for a relatively small saving after costs.

Tempted to try this with the wife's 100k focus might try and see if my local garage will do me a cheap rolling road session before and after to disprove/prove it works / doesn't work

One of the local places up here offers it and the guy is someone I trust as a decent mechanic and he swears by it albeit he has got a lump of cash invested in it so will be ever so slightly biased keeps telling me ill see benefits on my 7 month old taxi because its done 60k

So, in combination with a Terraclean, possible savings of £500 a year?

I wouldn't go so far as to say that it. Probably different results on different cars depending on the state of the engine, the extent of which its coked up, age, mileage etc. That said, even a 1% improvement in mpg is a benefit.

'Twas a little "tongue in cheek" Mark. :D

I'm not really sure what constantly referring to Howard owning a Honda Accord when you've been told on numerous occasions he sold it several years ago classifies as...

That's because you've missed the point.

I don't really see anything significantly different between this and a can of bg244 ( or ehichever one is the petrol version) both will serve much the same purpose but one costs about £75 less whilst giving similar results ( or non results)

I get a better improvement by taking out my spare change out of the glovebox. Well done.

I sold the Fiesta 3 years ago, BTW.
