Right, following on from the post here

It's left me thinking again, why this doesn't happen in casinos (maybe online ones would be easier as there would be no real people??)

Apparently from the thread above some tables have limits, meaning it would be a bit too risky, but apparently some don't (can't you tell I never go to casinos at all lol)

From what I gather, if you put a quid on a red, you get 2 quid back?

So at first I thought about just doubling your money (so if you lost 3 times it would be 8 quid needed to be put down to win 16 back, but as op in the other thread suggested, you would only win back what you put down (+1quid) 1+2+4,+8 =15 and ya would get 16 back, so not much point.

But what about if you doubled up then added the original to what you bet?

So, the bets would look like this:

1,2,5,13,47 etc etc

Then 47+13+5+2+1 would have cost 68 quid but you would win 94 quid giving you a profit?

Of course this makes the totals go up rather quickly, but you would have to be unlucky to get the same colour 10 times in a row?
 
It doesn't work. Trust me. Tried it online and it only takes a run of 5 or 6 losing bets to wipe you out.

You might win occasionally giving you the illusion of a profit but if you extrapolate the data further you will see losses and potentially VERY big losses!

you can make a few hundred quid fairly fast

No you don't. I used to do casino bonuses when they were worthwhile and used this method as it was fairly low risk.

Once saw £1500 go down the drain after 16 reds at a very reputable casino.

Green has very little to do with this and doesn't have any surprise effects like you're implying.

Of course it does. It gives the house the slight advantage on every roll. If green didn't exist then it would be strictly 50:50 so over a long run of results you would have exactly a 50% chance of profit or break-even. But as it stands, statistically the house holds a very slight advantage - It might be slight, but it is crucial.
 
While at uni my mate used this method online and made £1000. It took him quite a while and started with quite a big bankroll, but worked.
Some online casinos let you spin without putting a bet on. So he'd spin until 3 reds (or blacks) came up in a row, then would bet on the opposite colour and doubled from there.
 
Yeah it works, but don't just randomly start betting on stuff.

Wait for 10 of the same color in a row, then bet on the opposite color - keep doubling up on that color until you win.

Then get pizza on the way home.

Plus your math is wrong as you don't have the previous money also. You put 1 down you get 1 back, you put 2 down (it still contains that 1) you get 2 back, so hence 4 not 5

And if you put 4 down though, (after losing the 2 and 1 pound) you would only win 8 quid back?

As you said in the other thread you would only ever win what the first bet was, which led me to the change of doubling the bet, then adding extra, meaning you wouldn't just win the original bey back.

Anyways, I'm going bed, way too tired to get try head around bets when I have no idea how they work, but il check back when I get up later to see if I can grasp the concept better!

Oh, and btw, I wouldn't actually use the system, I understand that the only real winner in gambling is the casino =)
 
Last 3 times I've played roulette I've put down £20 and walked away with £300+.

The last time I bet £250 on red.... and it came up black :o

why wait for three reds or blacks? the chances of it being red or black are not affected by the previous spins.

the only legal way you can make money on a roulette table (aside from the matched betting mentioned previously) is to find a very old table that is preferably not perfectly level as this will create a zone that the ball is more likely to drop at. The wear and tear on the table will give a very slight bias to certain numbers and by recording the results of thousands of spins you will find that some numbers come up more than others. There was a program that I've spent ages trying to find where someone did this and made a fair amount of money.

I know the odds are the same but you're gambling less money.

If 6 reds came in a row and the 7th was red.
You gamble 1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + 16 + 32 before you get 1 back
Whereas he'd have gambled just 1 + 2 + 4

Really, I just bet on the opposite colour that's already landed.

Occasionally you can get shafted if it's 0 (or double 00 if you're in the states / international water).
