Ok, I'm well overdue for GPU upgrade.
Currently got i7 2600, GTX460 1Gb, "Generic" H67 motherboard (no overclocking capability) 550W PSU & 1080p Monitor.
Currently playing Arma3 & Rome2, both games are running average standard/high settings with about 25-30FPS, which is terrible and I'm really sort of trying not to play until I can Max out settings.
Now, I don't mind spending £350 for good graphics card but I'm just wondering if my CPU would be bottleneck, will I need better motherboard and lastly will my PSU handle those Cards, whatever I buy it will be my main card for at least next two years.

Thanks

i guess u could wait and see but i dont think its going to be that much of a difference , plus the toxic is so good anyway might as well get it :0 but ye u need a better psu tbh

If its a decent PSU it will probably be fine for a 290? I ran a 7970, 3770k and 32gb ddr, plus 3 hard drives on a shuttle 500 psu no problems.

Just checked it's Arctic Power 500W PSU.
I guess I'll wait for R290 to see what price/performance there is over 280x Toxic.

I'm surprised that it would even handle your current set up...probably because you don't have an overclocked CPU.

However, if you are upgrading to a higher power consumption card like the 290, be prepared that your Arctic Power 500W will go out with a bang; would it take the rest of your handware to the grave with it? I don't know, but I certainly wouldn't put myself into that position to find out.
