Battlefield 4 Thread ~ Server details in opening post ~

I have to say that BF4 is the best optimized game I ever played.

My PC is a Q6600 3.1GHz 8GB RAM with a 6970 2GB GPU running at 3600x1200.

Changing the graphic settings from low to Ultra gives me 10 more FPS then the last setting, on Ultra I have 10+ FPS, on High I have 20+ FPS and on Medium I have 30+ FPS and on low I have 40+ FPS.

Never, never in about 13+ years that I been gaming for have I ever had a game that did that.

After doing some testing, I have found out that I can keep most settings on Ultra while leaving some to OFF or low to keep 40+ FPS.

Lightning on anything other then low drops me to 35+ FPS, AA and things like that has to stay OFF or LOW. Post Processing is set to Medium.

But textures and all the pretty stuff can be o Ultra and the game looks awesome. Only problem is that it's too light to really enjoy playing single player. I wait till it's dark.
 
just finished preloading , waiting on 770 4 gig , 1 gig 4870 probably will not run it nicely , but i thought premium users should get it 31st october not 1st november ?

I used that Guide, except.. I used Proxy Switchy for Chrome, and entered the Proxy details using the ones from that list.

Switched to my 'Origin Proxy Profile' which has the Mexican proxy details.

Fired up Origin.com, chose BF4 basic, put in basket, go to checkout, then turn the proxy off, enter card details and mexican hotel address.

Purchase for £24 I think?
 
I was thinking of picking this up at the weekend. Unfortunately, I've only got a mobile i5 (dual core + HT) and a 635m. Reckon I could squeeze 25-30fps out of it at 720p?

Missed out trying the beta as I was going to get a PS4 at the time!

I think the supression system should restrict vision slightly but not stop you from running which I hate its totally rubbish, why should you freeze on the spot as if somehow your cns is asking your muscles to innervate and is prevented in doing so total bs.... But still early days, hopefully things with change for the better!!!
 
So the game's optimized well now then? I've got it on origin but didn't bother much after the beta as the framerate wasn't great (I'm a streamer, people didn't really like the low FPS)
 
I'm seeing two patterns emerging at the moment...

One is posts saying "I play to take objectives and rooftop campers are stupid and wasting time".

The other is posts saying "someone camping in the same spot killed me x times in a row aaaargh."

Surely if you're camping in the same spot, without moving, and still consistently killing the enemy players who are trying for objectives, then you're helping your team?

Is the problem just when too many people do it or something? Surely it's either ineffective, in which case it's only annoying on your own team, or it works in which case suck it up and play around it?

Had an ok time last night on a map with loads of apartment buildings and rooftops, but then the map changed to a large open area, which was frankly quite dull.

But it seems to play quite smoothly on a 6970 @ 1200p on High.
 
On the floods map theres a bridge on the side of the houses. There were 5 snipers spread across it s everythime you we on that side of the houses you'd get killed. Ridiculous especially when your team have zero communication and no one decided to get in a chopper to sort them out, instead everyone bunny hopped trying to evade the snipers!

Enjoying it, dunno why but it feels like COD4 to me. Don't know what it is, feels faster than BF3 less clunky and more streamlined.

No problem with people who stay around a flag to "defend/attack" (that is when they are on the "burn") it.

My problem is:

- people who camp on roofs spamming their explosives and snipers shooting with their crappy aim and not at the enemies capping flags i.e. just shooting people running in the street i.e. easy kills, you know they have to protect their precious k/d because k/d is what makes a player amazing........
- people who camp in a certain location and don't budge at all i.e. flood zone, encountered so many people that just camp at the stairways + little sheds on the roofs and don't move even if the flag across the roof top is getting taken

And it annoys me just as much when my own team are doing it.

I just don't understand where the satisfaction is in playing that way, so many ways to play and you have a big map yet people actually enjoy staying in one spot the entire time? :confused: :o Most boring way to play this game imho.

And yes if it was only a few people doing it I wouldn't really care as much, but most of the teams are camping so far.

I'm just glad that the ones who do cap and defend flags and other team work are the ones that end up being at the top of leaderboard where as those who just camp to get kills are the ones in the middle or near the bottom of the leaderboard.

Once I unlock flahsbangs and molotovs, those types of campers will have to run of to another spot.

Plus it just goes to show from the beta map + floodzone etc. that when most of the team camp on rooftops then that team will get destroyed and it is pretty obvious why, because they all are staying up on the roofs just to get kills and nothing else to help the team win so the majority of roof top campers aren't as useful as what they like to think.
