*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Got a weird issue with my S4 - currently think it might be the celluar baseband crashing, although when the issue occurs occasionally it results in the phone not being able to see a SIM card.

Had the issue with PAC Man rom where it couldn't see a SIM card (and so no mobile signal), so changed to Omega 13.1 (TW based) ROM. Seemed to be OK however it would loose signal altogether unless the phone was unlocked and the screen was active. Any time the screen went inactive signal would disappear. It's now showing the same symptoms I was seeing under PAC Man, sometimes I can use the phone fine for a while (although only while the screen is on). Eventually it seems to "loose" the SIM card and can't see that one's present. Either rebooting the phone or hard resetting it by taking out the battery "fixes" the issue for a while.

Anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this? Just about to try another SIM card to rule that out and try this SIM in another phone, but also wondering if its a baseband/firmware/ROM issue?

My advice is to go back to complete stock (not the one with knox included) & see if you have the same issues then.

I had the same symptoms when I first installed Foxhound 3.0 (Android 4.3) and stock baseband.. I upgrade to MJ5 baseband and the problem went away.. Since then I have gone back to Android 4.2 and stock (MDM?) baseband.

Thanks for that - updated to MJ7 Modem and seems to have fixed the issue :). Suspected it may be that, but only got a bit of time today to actually try and fix it!

Was due an update so thought i would try android again with the gs4

Just turned it on and have been hit in the face with a reminder ofbwhat i didnt like the last time , branding and samsung apps i will never use ! Found a few guides for unbranding , can anyone advise on which is the best way ?

I had the option to upgrade earlier but was just about to leave work and didn't fancy doing nigh on 700mb over 3G. Now I'm home I've gone to update and I'm being told I have the newest version!? Tried it a few times as well. I'm on EE so guess they may have rolled out the upgrade then recalled it?

Was getting the you have the latest yada yada on my unbranded S4 . Same on Kies . Went to sammobile dowloaded 4.3 and installed with Odin. Job done

Anyone getting a security message (An application attempting to access system on my device without authorization) popping up since the 4.3 update?

I installed the new 4.3 UK BTU update on my network unlocked branded 3UK S4 via Odin and it seems to work fine. In fact the My Galaxy app it installed gives you a free 2 year Samsung warranty if you sign up. :D

not sure where you find this but i dont see a My Galaxy app anywhere?
edit: nevermind downloading from the appstore will check it out, just signed up and registered for the free 2 years warranty really good that said i bought mine from a guy brand new so have no reciept etc so i wonder if it would still be elgible.

It's just that you now have the KNOX bootloader after updating.

Btw, you can freeze or delete the KNOX files. But you'll need root access, unfortunately this will more than likely trip the KNOX flag. Which is visible in the download mode and voids the warranty.
