Million Mask March

The only thing which bugs me is the second so many seem to land in a position of relative conform those rebellious tendencies die down to nothing.

Unenlightened self-interest doesn't impress me one bit.

To hijack John Major's analogy; it's easy to **** on the tent when you're not in it. Makes me laugh to see how near every single one of my peers from college and university that called me 'Tory Boy' for all those years suddenly came round to my way of thinking when it was their incomes being taken away. :)

Obviously, some of them are still red as the the sky is blue, but they're in a tiny majority!

Indeed, it's sad but true.

The political views of many seems to be "whatever benefits me currently at the cost of others", with the 'others' switching from the poor to the rich pending on their own circumstances.

I see it daily where I work now, a few people espouse liberal/left views - but when pushed to see if they would personally take an increase in tax for pay for it suddenly start making excuses.

They like the idea of supporting policies which result in greater economic equality but suddenly don't like the sound of them if it results in them paying a little more tax/losing benefits they don't need.

On the flip side, you get hardened right wing Tory's who suddenly turn into born against socialists once they get made redundant/suffer an injury which results in a disability or end up being in the situation they may have to sell granny's house to pay for her care. (expecting the government to pay for everything).

Again, nothing more than self-interest.

I lol'd at the people just marching without a mask on.

They're kinda missing the whole point. Hell I even saw some people wearing the mask on top of their heads like a baseball cap. Really missing the point of anonymity there, chaps.

:o :D

One thing which is true to be fair, all revolutions are revolutions of the mind - a change of public perspective on the nature of our current system may create an environment in which people are more engaged politically & willing to accept a multitude of different systems.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
― Margaret Mead

But don't get me wrong, I don't expect this group to achieve anything directly - but it may create a few people who fit into the above.

I stand corrected, the Beeb are reporting it as a "scuffle".

Last night was described as “rowdy”.

They’re planning on burning their gas and electricity bills next - which isn’t even close to an upgrade to a ‘minor disturbance’. Pfft.
