Soo mixed results from Google.

But who here turns there phone off overnight? and who keeps it on?

Does it matter in this day and age to 'preserve' the battery of a device?
and
Does turning the phone off at night and on in the morning drain the battery more then leaving it on?

Woud like to hear various opinions and whatnot :).

EDIT:

I forgot to say I leave mine on.. I personally don't have the best signal here but the battery drain doesn't even seem bad.. Just about every phone I've had I've left on over night.

On but in silent mode.

Leaving it on overnight will use more battery but I doubt either have any significantly different impact on battery health.

Quite surprised the amount that leave it on haha.. How badly does 2g / 3g drain battery? Is it possible to turn data on for say 15 mins then off to get emails and what not?

I'm sure tasker can do something like that. I have it on wifi instead of 3G as that uses less power, overall on average my HO usually drops 5% battery over night.

I'm surprised everybody doesn't leave their phone on and charge it overnight. It means I can use it as an alarm and it's fully charge in the morning.

But it is my alarm :p. And I usually have enough time in the morning to charge it to full. It's my tablet that I leave to charge over night...

I've always left my phone on (though only use it as an alarm if I'm away from home). The drain is insignificant (unless you live in an area with shocking reception).

The only irritation is the odd beep if I haven't muted it and the notification LED reflecting off the ceiling (at some point I will learn to turn the phone face-down before hitting the hay).

On, but on Airplane mode. Charge it when I get in from work then leave it unplugged overnight, generally around 96% the next morning. Gone are the days when phone alarms would still go off even if the phone was turned off!

I want to switch mine off as studies have shown it can affect your sleep. Also there's the phenomenon of sleep texting although I've not suffered that myself. I do find myself coming on OCUK forums when I wake up in the middle of the night because the phone is there. That can't be healthy.

Smartphone but has to be on for alarm to work. Seems the dumb phone I had before it was smarter. Why can't smartphones do this ?
