**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

50% or there abouts power advantage.

£75 cheaper.

Is there anything else that needs to be said.

Well the main reason seemed to be more to do with the initial launch of the xbox and the announcements around always requiring online and a few other features that people didn't like the sound of.

They since binned those and went back to the original format. Now there seems to be some debate over the power difference and how much impact it will have. People are annoyed that the Kinnect is bundled as it wasn't much use before.

For me i'm looking forward to seeing what they will do with the Kinnect. If they add some cool features and use the Smartglass stuff in a clever way then it will more than make up for poorer resolution. I've always preferred gameplay and functionality over graphics.

Then there's something wrong with you, anyone who says they can't tell the difference between a sky movie at 720p and a bluray at 1080p doesn't deserve to own a HDTV.

I'm sorry you sound dumb for even posting that.

As that's like comparing apples and oranges and saying they are the same fruit.

That is not even comparable to this. As sky is highly compressed and relatively poor quality for 720p to start with, added to the fact sky runs at 1080i (that's what it did in the past anyway).

A better comparison would be comparing a 720p blu ray rip with a 1080p blu ray rip with comparable compressions, and the answer would be. At any decent viewing range ie 8-10feet+ you would be hard pushed to tell the difference on something like a 55inch television.

Hey i found this handy chart type thingy
http://carltonbale.com/1080p-does-matter/
Not sure how big most rooms are but i sit approx 6-7 foot away from my 50" TV so i should notice the difference and when forcing say GT5 to 1080 or 720 i can see a difference, albeit not a massive one.

Never seen that chart before!

6 to 7 feet away is too close for me, i'm normally around 12 feet away. So what I said is correct then. same with you.

At the end of the day, unless you have both consoles running side by side on 2 identical TVs, you're not going to notice any real difference. The gameplay will be the same.

For most people it will not make a difference but because my tv is native 1080p it really does. It depends if you have the eye for it really.

Me neither, but the bottom where it reads:

12(ish) feet and 140" 4K TV

For one, who could possibly afford that?!

But at my distance, <5 feet, I can see all :D

Please let's not get into the whole 720v1080 crap again. It's been done several times and I don't want to see it repeated yet again. I'd rather concern myself with the pleasant thought that this time in 2 weeks, I will hopefully be splattering zombies everywhere in Dead Rising 3.

Speaking of repetitive crap :p;)

I like that video on the features, shame on my connection 8mb most of it will be useless and slow. In reality the only one I'd probably have used is the invites while watching tv.

Ever think we see all the detail on 1080p 5" phone screens lol? Do they have a chart for how close you need to put your face in front of your 2560x1600 monitor? Higher resolutions just tend to look crisper even if you can't see the detail in every pixel. But as other's have highlighted in this thread some people can't tell the difference between a Blu Ray and SD so it's your own perception and preference I guess.

Argh, don't know whether to rent DR3 or keep my pre order!

On the one hand, it's a lot of money to buy, compared to £8 to rent for a month. On the other hand, will I be happy with just Forza for launch day as the rented game will take a week to come though.

Its amazing how myths can propagate. That graph has never been tested and our eyes dont work exactly like that. They are constantly moving around and stitching things together. If there is an image on any size monitor with more detail at the distances at home then you will likely notice some of them.

Decided I will keep my free copy of Fifa 14 ... dont like football, dont like football games ... but it has Oldham Athletic :D
