Yes did mine a few days ago. They will process orders 7-10 days before release.

Not if you pay with a credit card.
What's the advantage of paying early?
I guess I am unfairly assuming people aren't morons who input their credit card details/address incorrectly and thus get their payment declined.

If the company goes bust, you can still get your money back as the credit card company are equally liable.
However, if you've entered the card details incorrectly, then that's not going to happen

I understand your point about credit card protection, but why ever pay early?

I do this on Amazon, but they don't take your money until the order is dispatched so it's different.

I also dont get paying early , I know my card details are fine because other pre-orders were ok , there is no advantage at all.
I think some people think they will get ahead of the queue or something if they pay now?
and anyway they normally take payment a few days early , so if anything was wrong they would let you know.

i my case i would have spent it, that why i paid mine early along with the kids ps4's also.
Avoids any possible issues with the company taking payment, blocked for fraud etc. if it's a new card or expensive.
MBNA rang me when I ordered my PS4 from ASDA as it was over a certain amount and I hadn't ordered from there before.

Very (i had a code) were messing about with my delivery date for the PS4 so i cancelled and bought with shopto. They replied to my message on twitter within 5 minutes confirming i would get it on release...that'll do.

shopto are actually very good (so I have heard). In the first year, if your console becomes faulty, they pick-up the fault one and send out a BRAND NEW one in 24 hours.
Amazon also do something similar.
