Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9 - 10th November 2013]

Well, that's an interesting result. Things really bunching up at the top.

Man United are definitely back in the hunt now. Ahead of City, ahead of Spurs, and only one point ebhind Chelsea. I still don't see them winning the title, but they're certainty back in the mix.

What an odd weekend of results all around really!

Pretty big win that, hope we go on from here and continue the unbeaten run. Looking much more solid at the back although could have been a different story if Giroud/Bendtner weren't a bit pants.

Agreed. Add Ozil in there too, he literally gave up on that header!?!?

And lol to the Man U fans pre game "oh I think Arsenal are going to hammer us" etc. Sheesh.

With their mid-field and their recent form they should have bossed it. I can be a bit of a pessimist, mind :p

3 big games in space of just over a week and we took 6 points

well happy with that tbh

and lol at everyone now criticising ozil because he had a bad game check back at the end of the season i'll put money hes still probably going to have most assists in the league

how fickle some people are

shall we start calling for wengers head again :o

Well that was ****ing awful by Arsenal, absolutely terrible stuff today from them to lose 1-0 to Utd. Looks like we still cant beat them at home...depressing stuff from us.

Ozil looked off today, nothing was going right for him. All in all a pathetic performance by Arsenal.

Anyhow 2 pt lead now at the top, really need to put this defeat behind us and get back to winning ways after the international break.

Enjoy the victory Utd fans, fully deserved as per usual.

Still need to strengthen come Jan for sure, we havent got enough quality in the squad to win the PL and other trophies. But all in all im not too upset about losing seeing as we had Dortmund and Liverpool as our last 2 games and they were tough. We did look off the pace today which is what i feared about today.

Arsenal seemed intimidated to me, completely bottled it. Then again, Chelsea also made them look completely ineffective in the cup the other week so it's not a first.

The killer thing about buying Ozil is, we didn't need Ozil to spank Norwich, we couldn't beat Utd with Ozil..... 42mil for him was probably Wenger's single biggest mistake.

There aren't many if any games this year I think Ozil was critical to winning, he may have scored or assisted a winning goal but I don't think we don't have other players who were capable of doing the same thing. I don't think he'll make any difference, and may in fact make us worse against the best teams as Wenger wastes a starting spot on him for games like this.

It never takes long for Arsenal and Arsenal fans to fall back into crisis mode.

Seeing as most of our 2nd team played Chelsea in the cup right???, Chelsea had £30mill worth of talent on their bench so i wasnt expecting us to beat them in the league cup.

As for being intimidated??, not sure...to me it looked like we were massively off the pace and couldnt get a proper foothold in the game...2nd half we looked better but still our passing game wasnt as effective as it normally is.

Remember we had a tough game on Wed then the weekend before that against Liverpool. Didnt help that Mert was out along with Rosicky either.

But onwards and upwards, we were due a bad loss and we had it tonight so time to forget about it and get back to winning games after the crappy international break.

We now have Southampton, a tough game for sure, then away to Cardiff, not an easy game as they have been quite tough to beat. Hull, should walk it, but then Everton, City, Chelsea, then West Ham and Newcastle away days apart from each other in the busy xmas period. This is the kind of game that if it knocks our confidence the "easy" game in Hull suddenly could become difficult if we lose to Southampton and struggle against Cardiff, then we have three very tough games, then tough away games so close to each other.... it's not ideal.

A lot has been made about Moyes and his pre season training methods. I think Utd's fitness and strength contributed to the result today
