How much is a BMW indy charging for tracking both front and rear?

Just took my car to Tyre place and got a massive shock:eek:

All four of my tyres are gone!

Most indys won't have the kit, you are most likely to find it at a tyre place. Find one which does weighted alignment using a Hunter machine. Expect to pay 30 to 100 depending on what needs doing.

Dont 100% believe the Hunter stuff.

Anyone with a decent 4 wheel aligner can do this. John Bean, Beissbarth etc.
This.

I have had spot on alignment done at a garage with some ancient looking machine, and been less than impressed with work from garages with more up to date stuff.

If the operator knows what he is doing, then all should be good.

Couldn't agree more.

Mine had to go back to a place 4 times to get the wheel straight with so called laser tracking, then 6 months later i needed another tyre as it had worn so badly on the outer edge!

Went to a reputable place with some old school equipment bang on first time.

Of course the problem is that its very difficult to know whether the operator knows what he's doing - often the guy you speak to then turns out not to be the guy operating it anyway. Whereas it's very easy to at least find out what kit they've got, which gets you over the first hurdle.

Word of mouth is pretty good in these cases, and with the Internet it becomes quite easy. Just Google for recommendations from owners clubs / car forums.

Personally I can recommend 2 places

- Nigel Lang in Bolton (Peter is the alignment guy)
- DCMS in Burnley (Graham does alignment and everything else...)

Your car is pretty well corroded is it not? I would expect everything to be seized tbh. Spare track rods and camber bolts are easy, but if you have a trailing arm bolt snap, you're gonna have a bad time.

That's why I'm taking it the Indy. I called them just before they closed and He said 90 quid for 4 wheel alignment.

I asked him to look at the brakes and stuff as I'm due Inspection 2 in 5K...

That's £240

Anyhow just ordered 4 new tyres and (Gets Flame retardant coat on :o ) I bought new to the Market

2 x Primewell Sport 910 255/35/R18
2 X Primewell Sport 910 225/40/R18

For the sum of £221 delivered.

What on earth? What makes you think a 50 quid tyre in that size is going to be anything other than terrible?!

If they are...I'll buy some more. Its gets me back on the road and I have read 5 series BMW owners love em.:D

A proper tyre also gets you 'back on the road' and more importantly keeps you there, especially as you tackle those country lanes at 80mph ;)

PZ900 below...The Sport 910's are new out and reviews seem good.Better than the PZ900's

"Have had these on my BMW 330ci, 225 40 18 and 255 35 18. Some of the reviews on here are actually laughable. These are decent tyres and quieter than Bridgestone. DSC light has yet to come on, lots of traction when the torque kicks in. Don't be put off by reviewers with front wheel drive cars, would recommend to RWD. Last set lasted 15,000 miles. Not bad for the value you get, and good wet weather grip."

"i fit over 100 primewell tyres a week, they are a stunning tyre, clearly you ppl dont know what your talking about, your comparing a primewell to a pirelli p zero which costs almost twice as much n moaning about gettin 15k plus outa them ? for the money they are great, if ur not happy with them put a set of "suntracks " on then you'll relaise what a poor tyre really is !"

Anyway...I'll see how they go.
