Gigabyte 780 Windforce or wait for 290 with aftermarket coolers.

I like the look of shadow play and really like the look of g-sync

I also like the sound of mantle but haven't seen any benchmarks.

If buying a 780, (and im still tempted tbh) it would be the wf id go for. Coolers on theese cards are superb.

You carry on bud and it is better to get all the information possible. The trouble with Mantle, it isn't something any of us know what its potential is at present. All we can advise on is the now and what is what in honesty and on that, the 780 or the 290 is great. My only concern with the 290 is the cooler.

BF4 may run well on mantle but what other current games do? None

How many upcoming games will run well on mantle? some but the majority won't use it.

If mantle is a success how long before it is dominant in the games market? maybe 2 or 3 years.

What it really comes down to is do you prefer an AMD or NVidia card, if you choose AMD then mantle will be the icing on the cake not the main ingredients.

Apart from dice and BF4 its all ifs and buts at the moment and although it could be really good we probs wont see any benefits for 12 month so buy the 780 and if Mantle ends up being a game changer.....sell it next year and you will still of had a good years worth of use out of it
