290/X or 7990

Sorry to hear Matt. That is bad news and nothing worse than getting new toys and they don't turn up. Want me to come up and we give Ash a good hiding?

Ah well its getting late anyway. I'll let them off as to be fair its the first time they've screwed me. If it doesn't come tomorrow though, i will be on to ouck.

Looks like another day of BF4 with CF 7950's on nOOb-core servers :p

:D

I killed you didnt i? :p

Yep definitely not coming tonight. Says the parcel is back at the delivery depot. Will bitch slap him tomorrow.

It is bad when a parcel does not turn up and you have wasted a whole day waiting, this has happened to me a few times.

Tomorrow folks. Sorry i know the suspense is almost at unbearable levels now. :D

Cya tomorrow for more of the same. :p

Dude you need to get a money shot...

Years ago when I used to use the old defunct Alienware forum the top prize was getting a money shot of the delivery van outside your house or the driver coming up the path :D

For the most out of a 120hz monitor, you're on the wrong platform, no offence intended.

I run 120hz too, get an r9 290x if you're feeling flush.
But I still reckon my r9 290 will perform better.
I couldn't justify the 290x myself

None taken, I appreciate a no bs honest opinion.

Remember I can run up to 5gz stable though, that's got to be at least 4ghz IB I5 level on games that don't use more than 4 cores.
£ per performance gain would go 7970/ sell + 7990 => 290 => 290X

the 290(X) would be something new to play with though, so leaning towards that at the moment. Would want Hynix ram though, regardless of Gibbo's claim of the same performance..it'd just bug me otherwise.

I ran my R9 290 at 1000MHZ Core and 1500MHZ Memory.
Less than 2% difference according to Gibbo's heaven results with a stock R9 290X.

I don't personally think a 5GHZ PD module is equivalent to two IB Cores at 4GHZ.

I run my R9 290 with a 4.75GHZ 4670K.

From the research I've done two PD cores (or a module) is about the same as one Haswell core. Sometimes it varies but yes. Two IB cores are faster by quite a margin tbh. The 8320 at full pelt with full support is about level with a 4670k, and has the same advantage over a 3570k that the 4570k does.
