Now if, as we know, you HAVE to install the game fully on the HDD isn't that the same as a digital version? If so why wouldn't instant switching work?
You have to swap the discs!

Now I'm no XBox one expert, I've only decided recently I am getting one, but there's talk of digital games allowing for instant switching whilst BR versions don't.

So you still have to have the disc in even though it's fully installed? Surely all they need to do is tie a serial code to the game and your account, allowing for the dissociation should you wish to sell on the game, so you don't need to mess about with having the disc in?
Why do they have to go over the top?

Over the top? It's exactly how it is now, and I'm pretty sure it's exactly how it will be on the PS4 if you have disc based games. It's what I'm used to so not something I'll moan about. So you still have to have the disc in even though it's fully installed? It supports it with the day 1 patch:http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-13-playstation-4-doesnt-support-3d-blu-rays
Whats the deal with neither of them doing this then.
Part of the way i justified an xbox to myself initially was "Hey, I guess it'll to 3d too"
Looks like the PS4 doesnt do it either

It's all to do with licensing costs, Sony has to pay for a license fee for blu-ray playback on every console, to get round that they've made it an activation on a per user basis.
So this way they're only paying for the users that actually want to use the feature.
I'm on 120MB, but the cost of digital console games is still prohibitive.
Until they come down to a reasonable price which outweighs my requirement to sell them after completion, á la the PC and the mega deals you can get for new digital releases, I'm still going to predominantly be disc based.
