AMD True Audio

5.1 headphones are God awful sound quality wise though :(

You can now have a decent pair of stereo headphones and experience positional audio without having loads of speakers attached to your head.

sounded great with my sennheiser open headphones
the planes flying over head was amazing but his voice going left to right didnt do much for me, think its right does need the visuals to go with it

Go into the Sound City section of the forums and say that - see what kind of response you get :p

Don't need to I know what I talking about. :p

It's powered by Xonar D2X and the sound is crazy good.. I used to use virtual 5.1 corsair headset and the difference to having a true 5.1 is superb.

When playing Battlefield 4 and Jets fly over you can hear them from back to front. When firing a Gun the base rumbles with Vibration.

Sennheiser don't make 5.1 headphones do they? I thought all theirs were 2 speakers with the positional stuff produced virtually.

You really like them. This headset needs a sound card to get the most out of it. But also will be great with on-board audio.

The sense of awareness when using them is unreal.

Sony guy at PS4 talk at the AMD event, trueaudio IS on PS4 as I thought so boom, most console/cross platform games will use Trueaudio, but that also means the engines/studios/tools will all be using the plugin's so most will continue to use the same tools for PC only games.

That is a huge and quick install base and reason for most dev's to use Trueaudio, so awesome.

They have Three 40mm in each cup plus a Rubble unit. So maybe some people getting mixed up adding the Rubble has a speaker.

My honest Option dont knock them till you tried them.

They sound epic imo, but they hurt my head after wearing them for 1hr+, the headband isn't up to the job sadly and I had to stop using them as it turned into giving me constant headaches.

Yeah that was one of the cons about them. Good thing I don't mind them feel OK to me. Another was weight but again they don't feel to heavy either to me.
Sound wise there top quality.
