Miffed at Youtube.

It's a big mistake by youtube people don't like having hoops to jump through and red tape and all this google + nonsense.

When you take away anonymity and freedom you spoil everything.

I cant even be bothered to figure it out i'll just wait until youtube changes it back which they will after they see the viewing figures drop.

Just bumping this thread for a heads up:

My G+ was merged with my Youtube last year, yet I wasn't able to post after last week's update. I could click on the comment bubble but nothing would type, like as if my keyboard batteries have died! Tested keyboard in MS Notepad just to check :p So then I raised this issue as a tech support ticket. Never got a response with it being a huge organisation (like eBay/Paypal), but I was able to post today no probs without having to change my browser settings (Firefox and Chrome).

Dont worry guys, its all fixed now

And now we are experiencing the army of sheep posting ASCII pictures of 'Bob and his tank' to prove that they aren't sheep. Fantastic.

All that is achieving is making the comments section un-usable rather than just awkward. Idiots.

Its better than virus infested/abuse comments making it to the top every time.

So I've just checked in Chrome, where I'm logged into googlemail, and I can't see any of my YouTube uploads until I create a channel, and it wants to create a Google+ account and use my real name to do this.
If I search YouTube on Firefox (not logged into Google) then I can see all of my uploads under my original YouTube name. Does this mean I really can't manage/upload any videos without a Google+ account and changing my display name??

You need to create a G+ account, but you can then create something called a Google Page with the same name as your youtube account.
Then link the youtube account to that page, and your posts will have that page name and there will be no visible link to your actual google+ account.

I think it's a good idea, there are loads of racist comments on youtube. By making it less anonymous it might encourage people to stop being nobs.

The problem is, anonymity is only a tiny part of the reason some people post offensive comments. Most people will still do it, and those who really want anonymity can just create a second G+ account.

I wanted to go back to a video that I commented on a few days ago, so I went to my channel feed to discover it only listed comments I'd made up until the change :/. Great idea, let's move a load of Youtube features to a completley different site that no-one uses!

Haha! I saw that! The channels I frequent all really turned off comments for the most part, and my little channel is so minuscule I'd be happy to have 'Bob and his tank' appear on my stuff. :p

Most of the changes to youtube since google bought it have been for the negative.

Left alignment is still a big annoyance of mine, if it was not for scripts I would have to put with it and that would annoy me. It is annoying that it wants to now share every comment i make on my google+ page. I don't see why anyone would realy ever want to do that. It also defaults to on, so every time i have to untick, also share on google+. That is probably my biggest annoyance at the moment. I am not sure if having the ability to selectively share youtube comments is of any use either. I would how many comments so far have been only for a specific google+ circle.

But since they removed the paged numbers on the comments, it has made the comments quite useless to look through. You have to keep clicking more and then you have this massive long page after a while and then you have to ctrl+f and look for your post. This new popup side window thing that shows recent replies is a big improvement on this. Allows you too see who replied to your comments quite easily.

The very thing that made youtube, freedom of speech, is the very thing they are now trying shut down.

How so?

You're confusing freedom of speech with anonymity. You don't think people should be accountable for what they say? I don't mind them forcing you to put your real name next to what you say, if it stops stupid trolls then I'm glad.

It's trivial to create a fake G+ account.

Yea, I cannot work that out, so the same people jsut make fake Gmail accounts.

With the new system the post something nasty/ racists whatever.

These are NOT voted up, but are replied to the most and so sit at the top of the comments list.

How in sweet blue hell is this any better!?

It isn't. Google probably still think they are being smart though, but they have royally F'd up.

Hopefully loads of well respected YouTuber's sending them emails and letters should help fix things. Pewdiepie for one has disabled the comments and is using Reddit instead, and he is the no.1 subscribed user so Google have surely taken note of that.
