**XBOX ONE** Official Thread

It's not bizarre logic in the slightest. If one console is easier to program for, I would have thought it safe to assume it's easier to get more power out of it early, before developers have had the chance to fully understand each console inside and out. That's actually fairly simple logic really.

If you read the interview with Cerny about the PS4 hardware he explains that it was intentionally designed with a lot of advanced features (on the GPU side) to be exploited later, so there could be more to come from PS4 actually.

Both consoles should improve over time but Xbox One will never be able to bridge the gap in GPU power, it's much too wide. If it can't do 1080P as standard now I doubt it will ever do it as it requires a significant amount more rendering power.

Makes sense to me - if it's easier to program for and access the resources for it makes sense that it would peak in getting the most out of the available power/features earlier in the development cycle. /shrug
Yup. Here's how I see it, and to be clear to people (ps3udo), this is just my opinion based on nothing more than my own theories....

If the Xbox One and PS4 are both being utilised to the full, the PS4 would be something like 20% ahead (in real world terms)

If the Xbox One and PS4 are both being used at 80% of their power, the PS4 would still be 20% ahead.

If the Xbox One and PS4 are both being used at 50% of their power, the PS4 would still be 20% ahead.

If the Xbox One is being used at 60% of it's power, while the PS4 is being used at 75%, the PS4 will be 30% more powerful.

This is where I imagine we're at. The Xbox One's memory configuration makes using it a bit harder, so it's easy to imagine the PS4s power is being utilised better.

Of course, as I also stated earlier, this doesn't account for more software side fixes, such as a more efficient OS, better drivers, or better dev tools which may mean at 100% the difference is only 10-15%, or jumps up to 30%.

The logic works fine actually. If you don't agree with it or understand the point I'm trying to make, that's up to you. If you want me to present it differently then I will.
Actually it helps me understand your original opinion and why it differs from mine - think weve just considered differing factors and their weightings...

Considering the number of games doing 1080p on the XB1 now, I think 1080p will be fairly standard in the future. Forza, Fifa, both NBA games, NFS: Rivals, Madden, Kinect Sports Rivals and UFC are all 1080p.

And to be honest, either one of us could be right. Like I said, that's just how my logic sees it. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I won't care too much as I'll have both consoles anyway :D

I agree, launch games running at anything less than 1080p is indicative more of rushed development than a lack of available processing power.

They're simply not a good representation of what the consoles are going to be capable of, so it's bizarre that anyone is judging either console on the basis of them.

i'm looking forward to the code redemption through kinect :D easy bo peasy, i'm guessing all vouchers/gamecodes etc will come with the little barcode thing

Haha has anyone seen Xbox post on the Facebook page? Nice sarcastic message to Sony. Haha

can you screenshot it and put it up mate, i'm at work, thanks :-)

I'm on my phone so cannot link, it's just basically a XBOX Green background with a message saying Congratulations on your launch...Sony.

Be personally I think that's a dig (so does everyone else on the comments haha)

After the terrible launch of the 360 and all the RQOD issues I find it quite ironic MS would mock Sony. Lets just hope the xbox one doesn't suffer the same issues or they will really look stupid :D

It'll bite them in the ass. Whenever anyone tries to show someone up it hits them back two fold. Sony had a taste after mocking xbone at e3 with apparent reliability claims left, right and centre.

Play nice children.
