It's starting to get colder now and i'd like to get some warmer boots for work. Current ones are Dewalt steel toe ones, but they let water in and are far too cold. I don't want steel toe cap boots this time .

Anyone tried Web tex boots (Web-tex Pro-XT II Boots)? Apparently lined with 3M thinsulate. They are pricey at £75, but i dont mind paying if they will last a while and be waterproof and warm.

Also are Web-tex base layers still one of the best to go for?

Finally, are seal skinz socks worth £20 odd a pair? Supposed to be waterproof and warm.

Thanks

But use a real goldfish in the Cuban heels because zebra pimping, uh huh.

I've got nothing to compare them to but I've got a pair of Aigle boots and they're great; very warm, comfortable and waterproof.

It's less about the boots, more about the liner and socks.

Cheap snow boots with liner, proper hiking socks, toasty.
You are more likely to get what you pay for with socks, £20 is fine.

It doesn't get cold enough here for specialist stuff, so some of these will likely be plenty. Go for a size larger than you usually wear if you also want to wear some thick socks too.

EDIT:

Argh, misread the thread title - I thought it was "walking", not "working". The above probably aren't suitable afterall.

Just got me a pair of Buckler steel toe capped boots for working on't trains, will be pairing them up with some heavy socks and see what they're like with the coming cold.

Sorry, OP, I know it's not useful for you :p

Thanks for the replies. Was hoping someone might have owned a pair of the web-tex boots. I think i'll just grab a pair as i have had some other web-tex thermal gear and it seemed well made.

Will get some of them seal skinz socks as well to see if they work.

I do actually need some hiking boots as well :D. Karrimor any good?

My Magnums keep my feet nice and toasty when airsofting, even in the snow :) taken a lot of abuse and not showing much wear at all yet.

I use amblers steel warmlined FS56 but might not be waterproof enough for your needs. Only ones under £150 I've found so far that don't fall apart after 2 months of heavy use.

I've not tried the web-tex however.

While we're discussing boots, I would like a recommendation for a pair of boots that would be used almost exclusively in snow or icy conditions that might arise about 10 days of the year, and would enable me to pop them on, walk about 3 miles to work and 3 miles home again with good grip for snow and ice.
Not wishing to spend a pile as they won't be worn that often, people have said Magnums, Lowa and Asolo, any specific recommendations and price points?
